LG Tribute storage problem?

AC Question

I have an LG Tribute. I have an SD card inserted but files and apps don't transer to it.

My memory is so low that I can't even open most things without them crashing. My text messages won't come through. The only apps I have downloaded are Twitter and a work schedule app, I have less than 30 pictures, and 1 song.

Yet my memory is 99.99% full. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm very frustrated.

Thanks for your help!

Does anyone know if Lollipop will solve the LG Tribute space issues? Will Lollipop be available at some point without rooting your phone?

I have been leery of rooting my phone because it sounds as if BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN. What is the downside of rooting the Tribute, and what is the upside?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem in a brand new LG spirit. Since it was out of the box, half the internal storage was already occupied by System Data.(more than half actually 5G out of 8G) A month later i tried a factory reset but the system data size never changed. As i've looked online it seems that too many people face this problem. This is hardly an advertisment for the companies involved.

Even though this isn't addressed as a bug It's hard to belive that any company would make a device that can't even support its own OS while it prohibits the user to use their sd card... It even stops people from spending money on software as there's no space to install it. Even in hopes of making people buy new phones, who would buy anything from the same company that screwed up so badly?

I'm just waiting to see this issue admited as an error and fixed through an update.

I've got an LG tribute phone as well I just got it about a month ago and I keep getting these messages insignificant storage. I'm in the same boat is every person that has yet replied in the section. I upgraded my phone to try to get more storage room because I had another phone before this that is actually did the same problem this phone is doing. The whole thing though is my LG phone didn't start doing this until about two weeks after I've had it. If this keeps it up is there a way that a group of us could try to file a lawsuit for this? Did the same problem this phone is doing. The whole thing though is my LG phone didn't start doing this until about two weeks after I've had it. If this keeps it up is there a way that a group of us could try to file a lawsuit for this? I'm not a rich person at all in fact I'm disabled so I need my phone to help me with some of my daily needs. But also I have started my own small business that I do at home so it gives me something to do and I use my phone a lot but since I've got this new phone I can't use it for. I have to keep downloading installing apps constantly just to be able to use one of them for a little bit. If anybody figures out a way to fix these problems with these types of phones I hope all hear about it as well. And like I said earlier if there's a way to get a lawyer involved or what ever to get this company to say hey we do have a problem let's figure out a way to fix it then we might need to go down that route.

I think a class action lawsuit should be in order. If anyone here knows where to start, that'd be great. It would have to be an attorney who would get paid from settlement money, because I have no money for an attorney.

I'm not sure either about filing a suit against it, but I can try looking into it more. And I don't have money either to use on a attorney so we got to see we can do. If you know anyone else who might be interested please let me know and maybe we can see what we can get started.

I have a LG G Stylo (H634) and I am having this issue as well. I never experienced this on my G2. If not for a locked bootloader I'd be running aosp which would likely fix this. I've already ordered parts for my G2 and this phone is being smashed. I will never own another LG again.

I almost downloaded the update that wipes out the storage space. This thread stopped me. I would like to thank everyone who has mentioned the update. You saved me from making a mistake.

I am having the same problem i have got lg g2 and after i updated it to 5.0 lolipop i got this problem my phone is 32 gb so the misc takes up 21 gb and i am now really frustrated with this problem and looking for solution

I have an LG Tribute with 4GB (ha! ha!) of memory and a miscellaneous file that I've watched grow as I sat and didn't even use the phone! I'm wondering anyone has found an answer. And I'm with you all on the law suit...and I will never buy an android phone again! How did I find this forum: I googled, "Help me get more storage on my LG Tribute for the love of God!!" So far, no help. But a lot of company :-(

Hope this helps anyone with storage problems on the LG tribute (or any cheap smart android). I've been suffering the dread "storage space is running low" message for MONTHS. After hours of online research, it occurred to me that google updates seem to coincide with sudden, dizzying loss of storage. So I went into Settings> Apps and singled out the biggest app of all Google Play Serices. I clicked "uninstall updates" and deleted the notification option. IMMEDIATELY, I went from nearly no space to nearly 1.5 GBs. I then went into Google Play store and UNCHECKED automatic updates. Regular cache cleaning and no updates should make all our phones serviceable until we can get NEW full-priced, get-what-you-pay-for, non-android models! Good luck to all my fellow sufferers!

Ok, obviously I have the same problem. LG Tribue, system storage consumes half the data... And after searching for a solution for a couple days... I agree that a class action lawsuit is required in this. Somebody get on that so we can all download some apps and updates to apps!

You are so right!! If I EVER bought a defective product from a company that wouldn't back it up why would I EVER consider buying the upgraded version? Are these people marketing idiots? Take my money legitimately the first time, but don't try to scam me a second time.

Short version:
- Sd card with appMgr3
- Use kingRoot then Root Essentials.

Deep dive: (useful for many models)
Your 8gb is split between about 20 partitions.
4.1gb of 8gb are /data which you have plenty of control over.
2.6gb are /system which is mostly OS but has 300mb free and hosts bloat.

Use RootEssentials after Kingroot to remove unwanted apps and push updates back atop the originals in /system.

/dev is 500mb and only 1mb used. Shrinking this and growing /data could go a long way, but is advanced.

Move lots of apps to an external sd using something like AppMgr 3.

Disk Usage told me most of this cleanly and straightforwardly. Get critical of large apps in /data.

SD Maid is useful for various automatic cleanup tasks (after root).

Cleaning caches saves almost 1gb of /data. The dalvik cache could save another 600mb but requires advanced rearrange that's not worthwhile for me.

I have the same problem on a LG Tribute 2. System Data takes 4.83/8 GB. This really does need a lawsuit. My older phone never had this problem, but it was stolen.

This is not LG’s fault. All manufacturers produce, or have produced, phones with relatively low storage. They may be perfectly suitable for basic phone use, but for anything more adventurous, they are best avoided in favour of phones with perhaps 32GB of storage or more.
