Five months ago i bought an LG v10 from AT&T and it was all working fine until last Sunday. At that time when i pulled down my notification tray, i saw my google search box in the "background" when it wasn't really there. Up until this point i learned that it's image retention and it might be cause by the the v10's quantum LCD display and overheating in conjunction.

It really isn't bothering me THAT much but I've decided to head over to AT&T tomorrow and request for a replacement under warranty.

Is that the right thing to do? and Should I expect retention again in the future? I've seen a few articles on it but I figure that it might be a select few devices.

Hey there! Welcome to Android Central.

I've read a few threads elsewhere on users having the same image-retention issue, and it seems that showing a white image for a period of time or putting the display to sleep does help with clearing that retention.

You mentioned that you're sending it off for an RMA at AT&T. That might not be a bad idea if the image-retention issue persists, but it should clear up after a while.

If it still persists, could you perhaps send a picture showing how it's like?

Since i made an account today just to see if i could get advice on this issue I PM'ed you with more details thinking that it would be faster, but since I don't know everything about this forum yet, I figured I would thank you, and replay here anyways just in case that didn't work. You're suggestions do work :D but i also payed 700$ for this phone, as a student, so it's supposed to last me until mid 2018, and i just didn't want any problems to occur. image1.jpg

Top section looks a bit dark to me.

I'll pass this on to as many people as I can. Having multiple brains is better than having one. ;)

But yeah, that's what LCDs tend to do when they display static content for extended periods. Weird thing is, in the 6 + 3 months I've used an LG G4 (similar display to the V10), I haven't experienced something like that. Hmm...

By the way the status bar + nav buttons only do that after a few minutes, and it happens faster t\when the phone is hot. Thanks for the help! I really appreciate the advice, unfortunately i have to sleep now since it's getting extremely late, but I'll come on tomorrow :D Thanks again!

I had the same thing when I fell asleep watching a YT video, in "portrait" mode and it made a line across my screen.

Strangely, it disappeared just as quickly as it appeared. I really didn't do anything special, and it just faded away overnight.

Good Luck though

I've had image retention around late June anyways though using Bluelight filter applications can help stifle image retention, which in my case has stopped all mainscreen retention. It won't help with the navigation buttons though nor the second screen.

Dang... I'm having this too. I'm seeing all sorts of things, ESPECIALLY the ATT logo in the corner on all sorts of apps... that isn't a good thing. No solution here though. I'll dig around and find out.
