LG V10 Marshmallow Update - When will we see it?

Be careful with that adoptable storage. The thing is, as I understand it, when you format your SD card and select transfer data, some of the internal memory is automatically transferred to the SD card, which means if you decide you need a different SD card, you are screwed. You are married to that SD card from then on. Take that out, and whatever internal memory was transferred is no longer on the phone and stuff will crash. The SD card is typically a lot slower than internal memory, so you will have a forced cooperation with two levels of speed, internal and SD.

I personally can see no need for this with the 64 GB internal storage in the v10. An older phone with less internal memory, maybe, but not a 2015 flagship with decent internal memory.

When I first got the phone I took my SD card from my G3 and put it in the V10. When I got my free card from LG I put it in. Sure I had to retransfer my pics, movies and music but no problem showed up.

That looks like a REALLY bad idea. I wouldn't install that. Ever.

Have to agree with Phil.

This isn't really like Doze. All this does is restrict background data, something that you can enable in the power saving options on many Android phones.

Furthermore, UNLIKE the real Doze, this only restricts background data. It doesn't put apps in an extended-sleep state. Another thing to point out is that this app will be constantly running in the background doing it's thing. Which means that you might actually get WORSE standby time with the app.

What I would suggest is until you get Marshmallow, close all apps before putting the phone to sleep and turn off data services if you want to stretch that standby time.

I already have had a horrible experience with apps like that.

Had MM on my Nexus 6 and miss it a lot.

I hope LG releases an update soon.

It's not really LG but the carriers that hold up the release of updates. Wouldn't want to release an update without all the bloat now would they?

The problem here is that LG hasn't released yet anywhere MM for the V10

But when they do the carriers will still delay it. Always happens. Took forever to get lollipop from AT&T. Not sure how Verizon and the others are with updates.

Yeah that's right, but first they should release it internationally

Yeah. And the problem right now is there isn't even any talk about it anywhere.

I have the T-Mobile version and on their software update page, the V10 isn't even listed. However the G3, G4 and even LG Stylo are listed as 'manufacturer development' for MM. I don't know what to think about that.

I really like the phone and even though MM is nothing major, except for Doze, it makes me wonder how updates will go for the V10. I'm on day 12 so I have 2 more days to decide. Although, I am on Jump on demand so I guess I could switch anytime.

I have the phone since it was released on T-Mobile and honestly i love it, i would suggest to stick with it and do what I'll probably do Jump! To the LG G5 or V11

I'm sure that's what I will do as well. Nothing from Samsung interests me at all. The only decision before the G5 that might sway me is if the carriers pick up the nexus 6P which is rumored to happen. Guess we will see.

The Nexus 6P sold by Carriers will definitely be much more expensive then on Google Play, just like T-Mobile did with the Nexus 6

Then it would depend on what much more expensive is. If they charge $50 more for each model, not terrible as we are talking $2/month. With Jump on demand I wouldn't have it for more than a few months anyway most likely so a few extra dollars would be worth not having to pay full price on Google play and then sell it.

If the carriers pick up the 6P in January or early February, I may switch to it if the v10 doesn't get some updates by then. If they don't pick it up until March, there probably won't be any point in switching since the G5 will most likely be around the corner.

Good Point!

Yeah fingers crossed but I wouldn't hold my breath. I still can't believe the LG Stylo is on the T-Mobile website with update pending but the V10 isn't even listed.

They will add it sooner or later
