Lg v20 vs. Note 7, got both, let's compare!

I'm with you on the note 7 being hard to replace with any phone, and I too prefer TouchWiz and the screen is awesome, but I'm going to try and hold on to the v20 til the note 8 comes out hopefully.

People always get on Samsung for lagging, but I have experienced lag with this v20 also.

I haven't had any lag on my V20. I just sit there and swipe screens 'cause I am amazed at how it has no lag.....lol. I use this app called Medscape alot. Since I got the N7 it's been a pain to open up, I even uninstalled and re-installed on the N7. I thought this whole time something was wrong with the app. Well it is butter smooth on the V20. I really can't complain. I will say though that every single Note that I have owned I experienced lag on them. It just never really bothered me.

Yeah I have had Samsung devices from the s4, note 4,5,and 7 and they all have lagged a little but it's not like my life is over because my phone takes a millisecond longer to open up an app lol, with the v20 I have experienced lag with YouTube and other videos switching from portrait to landscape it will take forever, especially if I'm laying down in bed watching a video, but I'm not going to panic mode over some lag, this is a nice phone and I'm growing to like it, I'll just have to say goodbye when the note 8 arrive lol

The new grace ui in the note 7 made my experience with TouchWiz even more enjoyable, a lot of people knock TouchWiz but I really prefer it over stock Android and even the LG ui, but of course everyone has their preference.

The one constant is Android lags sometimes with all devices. That is the trade-off for the more open OS and hardware fragmentation. I choose the more open OS and hardware options for sometimes lag, over a more restricted iOS that also sometimes lags, but less than Android.

Until there are multiple channel controllers all in parallel with memory and the chips, polling, address recall, buffering, etc (VERY expensive and a few fabrication levels from being practical)- there will be lag. Also a complete rewrite of framework and app protocol to leverage the hardware changes. Maybe 4-5 years?

Look I feel the Note 7 was a great experience as well. I also realize any phone could catch on fire at any time, however it is just not smart to tempt fate. It is an odds game and if the stories are true odds are greater with the Note 7 that something bad could possibly happen. Form factor, s-pen, waterproofing, vibrant screen are not worth it. I think it is irresponsible to possibly put innocent people at risk because you want to hang on to some features.

You are more likely, FAR more likely, to injure someone with your car going to the grocery store... better start hitching up the horse and buggy again! You don't *have* to drive a car to the store... but it's a lot nicer. You're risking other people's safety every time you do.

Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44.

again, perspective... it's all about perspective... :-)

You should be happy with signal for LTE. The V20 makes the Note 7 seem like an iPhone 4 being held wrong. You do not notice it in a strong signal area. Ignorance is bliss otherwise.
Did you have a Note 4 before, I'd just like to know if the V20 is better than N4 to at signal. I may be getting a V20 next week.

I've noticed that most people that made the switch to the V20 from the Note don't even miss the S-Pen.

I actually use it MUCH more on my N7 than I did with the 4. Don't know why, but I do. Maybe it just works that much better. I'll miss it, but I can live without

I haven't flown since Sept 11... :-) refuse to be violated by TSA perverts! I don't mind juggling phones; it's apparently pretty easy with Verizon. Also; had I known all this... I wouldn't have given back my Note 4 to Verizon.

I just do TSA Pre, no longer have to remove shoes, belts, electronics from my bag and no more nudie pictures of me. I just walk right through the line, its great. Of course I feel pretty sorry for the people in the past who had to see the nude shots of me!

I've hardly had mine all but a couple hours but having both side by side (as I type on my note and the v20 is synching data from cloud backups) I'm still trying to convince myself that the N7 is probably just going to have to go back sooner than later. Having had it for 2 months now, it definitely is not the same but there are some really great perks to the V20. Although it's minimally larger, I do have to get used to the increase in size... I'll get there. Already have switched my SIM and am going to make it my primary device as long as I can to see if I can live with it.

Even the rep at AT&T that helped me today said if he were in my shoes, he would keep the N7 and just buy a cheap backup device in case of failure or the event that I travel and can't bring it with me. Having a store representative tell me that makes it even harder to give it up "
*sheds tear*

If you don't fly and money is not an issue, then I guess keep the Note 7. My guess is the trade in period will end, probably around the end of the year and you can't sell the phone under recall you will have the device for quite a while. I do find it funny that one of the knocks of the V20 someone listed was updates considering the Note 7 will never have any updates.

Not true for me... I bought a Stilo stylus just to try and make up for the S-pen, but in reality I'll never carry it around with the v20. I use it a lot. It's my single biggest drawback to just giving the Note 7 back. But, everyone is different. I'll tell you this; if the v20 comes back next year with a stylus, I would strongly consider it. I do like the v20. I actually think it is a very good phone. I just don't think it's a great phone... yet.

I'm not giving it up just yet....when they brick it or if they do that 60% battery charge or if they start charging me for the phone....then I will....lol. In the meantime I will stay between the 2. I'm not about to fly anytime soon. So remains to be seen what will make me give up the N7. I do like the LG V20 I just prefer all the features of the N7. And I feel the price tag was more justified on the N7 than the LG V20.

...do the package disabler - we're all hoping it might work to keep you from getting that update to gimp your battery.

As far as charging me for the phone? I personally don't believe I should get a phone for free, but it would be nice to give it to me for half off or something (I'm about 1/3 paid now, I think, as I put some cash down.) I'll gladly pay full price if they'll just continue to leave me alone.

I guess I'm lucky I never had a Note? Because I think it is a great phone. haha.. To each his own for sure, I think it might grow on you. My boss has had a phone from the Note line for maybe the last 5 or 6 years and he has never used the stylus that comes with it.

That's so interesting. When I first bought my Note Edge, I thought for certain I'd use the stylus for everything, and then ended up hardly ever taking it out. With the V20, I don't even miss having a stylus.

Comparing a car to a cellphone is a far reach. If my car was recalled I would do whatever I was instructed to do to have it repaired. Most of us rely on our vehicle for everyday life. I frankly don't care if you keep your phone as I had Note 7's. Merely saying there really is no reason to keep it at this point except you like it and are going to do whatever you want regardless of what you are instructed to do, an unprecedented recall and all.

Now back to your originally scheduled program... I personally can't wait for the upcoming Samsung releases, for the most part they pack so many features into their phones. TouchWiz sucks but was a lot more lean on the Note7. They definitely had the phone of the year.

Comparing a car to a cellphone is a far reach. <snip>

You missed the point I was making... Even without a defect, you endanger public safety much more by driving, but your perspective (and probably the perspectives of many people) is that this is somehow OK, because we think we need it more.

You say comparing a car to a cell phone is a far reach. Really? They are both modern day conveniences that we could live without if we had to. (just wait for an EMP and we'll find out the hard way! LOL)

I'm merely pointing out the normalcy bias of the dangerous things in our lives that we pay no attention to, and the relatively benign, statistically speaking, that we fixate on.

Toasters... now THERE is a real threat to public safety...

But to each their own, brother... I do get your point and respect your opinion. I am also on my 3rd Note 7. Waiting for the Note 8. May not agree, but love the conversation. Keeps my mind off the election!

The Note 7 in my hands says otherwise

OK. The Note 7 is a collector's item. It is not available for commercial sales and will not be updated except to cripple it further.

However: isn't it interesting that with around 1,000,000 N7 phones still in the wild, there have been no further reports of battery fires?
