LG V30: No DAC... No Dice

There are a lot of leaks but so far no real confirmation if all variations will have the Dedicated DAC.
As a V20 owner that uses and appreciates the DAC on a daily basis I will definitely not upgrade if it missing. I am wondering how many of you V20 owners that enjoy great audio and are considering the V30 will buy it without the DAC.
I for one will not upgrade, especially since we already lost the battery. I know many of you V20 owners aren't upgrading regardless but I'm curious to how those of you that are dedicated to the dedicated DAC will not compromise.

If I do upgrade I'm keeping both phones. V20 for music, remote control IR, traveling on the go with no power source while on foot (removable battery) and then V30 solely for the 1.6 aperture camera.

Phone makers make what they think most people want and leave out features most people don't use to save on cost and for more design flexibility. That's why the removal battery and IR blaster went away from Samsung Phones.
Funny enough, Xiaomi manages to keep those features with how they set up their lines and still offer value for money. Some of these others OEMs want to charge extra and drop features, so...

I've been a quality audio chaser for years. I used to listen to music on the go from the Windows Mobile days when we had media player and Winamp. The first big phone I got with a multimedia focus was the HTC Touch HD.

I love the audio on the V20. Sound is great and the amp is more than enough to help navigate a noisy subway commute with little disortion in music quality. Gone are the days of cranking up volume and putting up with the disortion at high levels - I keep the volume between 40-45 with the DAC enabled.

If LG screws us by piecemealing the features, I'll keep the V20.

Evan Blass on quad dac

On twitter today:

Speaking of V30, apparently the quad DAC that was restricted to Asia in the G6 will be included globally this time around.

Re: Evan Blass on quad dac

Saw that. Should make some folks here happy. I hope that they don't use wireless charging as a differentiator between the regular and plus versions.

I don't think it was ever really a question as the V series was slated as the DAC model. On the G6 is was introduced for certain markets and not really part of the G line

Re: Evan Blass on quad dac

Thank god! Please include Wireless Charging aswell ... about the storage I don't care, as long as I can put a memory card in.

Didnt you post an entire thread titled "no dac no dice"? Seems it was a question to some folks. If not then Im majorly confused

Mike Dee, you say it never was in question, then posted this. So like I said, you have me confused:

It was a thought provoking statement I made to engage conversation on the matter. Was it a possibility? Yes of course.... And if it didn't include a dedicated DAC, I wouldn't buy it..... True statement.
I honestly didn't believe they would actually omit it.

I dont know. I shared the quote from Evan because based on the responses, and limited info, it def did seem to be at least on some people's minds. You started a whole thread on it, lol, then say it never was really in question. Regardless, this to me, and hopefully others, is really good news. With LG you never know what random.choices they are going to make.

Still going to be slightly let down in the V30+ isnt released in US and gets a better dac, but as long as its even slightly improved from the V20, im in on this release.

I think I explained the basis for the thread.

Of course it was on peoples minds after witnessing the G6 debacle.

No worries. Like I said...LG has an odd way of doing things, so hopefully come the release conference, it will be good news for all. I know we all are looking for something. For me, I want an improved DAC and a spec'd out camera that actually works. Nothing has compared (for me) since the G4. That one was amazing. And this far the specs on this camera are good, but need to see it in action. The Droid Maxx a few years back boasted an amazing 21mp camera, but in use, it was possible one of the worst cell phone cameras I ever used. Literally couldn't even capture a slowly crawling baby without blur.

I'm actually surprised that after all of your experiences you are still with LG.

When they work, they are nice devices. Im not an iphone person, and Ive used Moto Droids in the past, but I gave up on them when the battery life was so bad on the Droid 4 that you could watch the % counter drain while browsing a page.

I came to LG for the G4 and besides the bootloop pain in the butt, it was my fave phone. So I continue to use LG in hopes they can release another camera that good. And I always carry my G4 with me to events I want good photos at (hockey games, concerts, etc). So as a buyer, Im habitual and I stick with LG.

Based on your number of posts pointing out the possible flaws and LGs release methods of different phones by geography, I can say the same for you. Not sure why you keep with them either....but in the end, we both do.
