LG V30 or Pixel 2 XL?

I find it hard to believe that you are getting better battery life on the v30 considering the Pixel and v30 have pretty much the same internals and display but the but the v30 has a 3300mAh battery and the Pixel 2 XL has a 3520mAh battery. I'm sure the v30 has some battery management software by LG, but I find it really hard to believe it would be making that big of a difference. My guess is you don't have your LG set up the same way as you had the Pixel setup.

Far as the display, isn't the Pixel and v30 using the same display and doesn't the v30 have the same blue color shift when you tilt it as the Pixel?

I guess what I'm getting at is your two points why you switched to the v30 make absolutely no sense. Now if you said you switched to the v30 because of the headphone jack with DAC and wireless charging that would make complete sense.

I don't think the blue tint is that bad on the LG V30 compared to the P2XL. At least I haven't read anything that says it's that bad from multiple articles

You could always wait until prices drop on both new devices and then get one or the other at a later point.

Well, to me, this is a no brainer. Given the issues that both pixel phones are now seeing, and the fact that they have no expandable storage, no quad dac, no headphone jack. I went with the V30. Best phone I've ever owned. The camera is sensational, the quad dac literally speaks for itself especially when listening to high resolution music. It's the right size and extremely light. Built very solid. If my S7 edge had the dac, I'd like that as much, but no dac, no first place. I had the original pixel and it sucked. I also had the V10, but it was just to big and bulky to carry around. Yes sir, get the V30.

yes the DAC, sadly having my V10 for almost 2 years I've finally got some headphones to hear the difference and it's awesome but I rarely use headphones. And it is kinda big.

There was nothing the Pixel 2 did that the V30 could not do. However, the V30 does things that the Pixel 2 cannot. Larger screen, better looking, headphone jack, superior video, wireless charging, superior waterproofing, etc. All in all just a much better phone with more features, better looking and great feel in the hand.

Those are having some quality issues with Displays.if u r okay shelling 850$ for it then it's cool or else I would say v10.its quad dac is still one of the best,second to v20.
However i am sure since u own an LG device (specially v10) then you would be knowing what image retention is,something that is present in xl and I am expecting v30

The image retention thing is different. LG usually uses LCD panels. The pixel has an OLED display. The burn-in/ retention is completely different on those two.

Definitely the v30. Pixels are having all kinds of issues. My v30 is the best smartphone I've ever owned. And it's got just sbout everything. No issues here.

The issues are being addressed and there is also a 2year warranty for new pixels now

The only reason to consider the Pixel is if having updates first is more important than anything else on the phone. If you need OS updates 3-4 months earlier than other devices just so you can feel special about yourself, get the Pixel. Or if you plan on keeping the phone for longer than two years and you want that extra year of support, then the Pixel will be a good buy.

Anything the Pixel does, with its stock version of Android, the V30 can also do. What the Pixel has over the V30 is supposedly a better a camera and front firing speakers. If having the best camera is more important than having a complete package with a good camera, then get the Pixel. Neither camera is bad and, coming from the V10, either is an update for you. Both will be good cameras.

If you're the kind of person who consistently listens to audio through your phone's speaker, then maybe the Pixel might be good for you. If wired/wireless headphones, BT speakers, casting your device, or just using another device with a larger screen to consume media at home doesn't work for you, maybe front firing speakers will.

The last reason to get a Pixel is if you're absolutely against OEM skins. Coming from the V10, I don't think you are. I'm a long time LG user and I've grown accustomed to their skin and it gets better with every new phone. Honestly, it's not that different from stock despite what people will have you believe. The most notable difference is the theme, which can be changed because LG includes that kind of feature with their skin, unlike boring stock Android that Google dishes out.

In person, the Pixel 2 XL looks kind of awkward to me. The larger bezels with the rounded screen corners just doesn't look right. It looks off, weird. The V30, on the other hand, looks great and feels great. Best in hand feel of any phone I've held. The only thing I like about the Pixel build over the V30 is that it weighs more. The V30 is very thin and very light. This, of course, is a personal preference.

Aside from that, the V30 is a more complete package. When it comes to the software, the Pixel isn't unique. The Pixel has Android, but completely stock. The V30 also has Android, but has more features baked in. It has a very useful wide angle camera. It has wireless charging. It just feels like a more complete package.

Pixel now has a two year warranty. Though the V30 has more camera features the Pixel is the first cell phone camera that I am satisfied with as far as taking photos without relying on manual controls.

V30 also has a 2 year warranty. As an audiophile, the pixel is just a phone that will get you updates a little quicker. Doesn't have the hifi dac, expandable storage. I had an original pixel. What a ripoff. Sorry, but Google will get no more of my hard earned dollars.

I know V30 has the warranty... I was just updating you on Google since it was announced yesterday.... I will be using a V30 to review it. I'm getting the Pixel 2 XL and keeping my V20 since it's resale value sucks. I won't buy a new LG anymore. I may buy a V30 6 months from now

I gave the v10 a shot, but hated the screen, and bulk. Nevertheless, the v30 is a completely different device. I wish you good luck with your pixel, but I'd wait till Google guarantees they can fix these issues with updates. But as I said, I'm no longer needing to carry around a phone, and a high resolution music player.

The V20 is a little more palatable than the V10. It just irks me that a year later it has the same value as a iPhone 6 that's a least three years old. The V30 is nice and I'll put it through its paces.... Just wish it wasn't all glass

I'm leaning towards getting the V30 now. Just got back from the Florida Keys and realized half my photos were using the wide angle camera. Its such a cool feature, especially outdoors or just sitting around dinner table getting every person in the shot with room to spare.

Plus with my trade in ($170 for V20), and the $200 verizon cash card giveway, the price is less than $500.

Well yeah that makes sense. As soon as you start off with "As an audiophile" the Pixel 2 isn't for you. A lot of phones aren't actually.

Keep in mind it's gorilla glass 5 very strong. My galaxy s6 edge and S7 EDGE have it. No problem at all. I do use a case though

While I typically agree with G5 strength it doesn't hold up as well when the whole thing is mostly glass and curved. When screens were flat I had full confidence.

yea I think I'm going to get the V30 as well. I think my trade in is only a $100 though.

Just my 2 cents. Played with the pixel 2 and pixel 2 xl at the verizon store for about 45 min before i decided on the v30(at&T). Had the v30 for 1 week. Went back to the verizon store today to campare the 3 phones side by side cause I was bored..lol. Both pixels have a better camera at least in auto mode although not by much.. Both pixel models had better speakers than the v30. Of course the pixels will get updates sooner. Interface (GUI) was better on google phones but put a custom launcher on and that problem is solved. Screen on xl was not good at all. Colors were faded and muted no matter what setting i put it on. Regular pixel had a berrter screen IMO. V30 looks better than both pixels. Screen is much better on v30 (No banding or fading on my v30 at all)....screen is perfect. No micro sd card support on pixel 2's. No wireless charging or hi fi dac on pixels. Glad i got the v30 over the pixel models...If u want better speakers and a slightly better auto mode camera than i suggest you get regual pixel 2 over the XL. Its all depends on what feature you look for in a phone. My advice is to go to your local store and try them both and see which one you like the best. . Forgot to mention the wide angle lens of the v30 is the bee's knees.
