LG V30 or Pixel 2 XL?

How do you guys like the camera of the v30 in auto mode? The reviews are all over the place.... also, what's your feeling on the size of the 2xl vs v30?...thanks
I think the size of the two is negligible. If you want the best Auto camera...Pixel all the way and don't forget fast updates.
The V30 has a decent Auto camera and it's got some neat video features. If you're an audiohead this thing is a beast. The only reason I don't have trouble giving up the V30 for the pixel is because I already have a V20 with great audio and can keep that as a media device. Also the audio recording for video on the V30 is fantastic. Its a tough choice and I've decided to go Pixel because the camera is that good. I've never been a real fan of cell phone cameras till the Pixel. I also want the fast and somewhat guaranteed 3 years of updates.

Updates are no longer a big deal. Changes are just minor tweaks and you have to read an article just to see what actually changed. Plus most of us are buying a new phone every year now.
In 2 years that battery starts to get weaker and weaker you are almost forced to upgrade anyways.

Sorry friend...updates are a big deal to the people who perceive their added value whether it's a minor change, a security updates or a system upgrade. They may not be a big deal to you and thats understood, however we shouldn't minimize their importance to others. It's not much different with any camera, video, audio or whichever feature you want to insert here. I say this not so much for sake of those that care, but for those that dont understand the importance.

As a tinkerer, every major update to your phone or PC software is like Xmas morning; you get to open the device, peek around, test under new scenarios, try a feature (even if only to use once) etc.

The Pixel is Santa. Just because some folks don't believe in Santa does not mean that I don't.

Most updates are security patches with possibly a few bug fixes....not much to tinker with. More so possibly on the interim updates which is nice and as an example LG skips over those.

I have a V30 but rather impulsively picked up a 2XL last week. I just think I had a pixel itch that needed scratching as no matter how much I liked another droid knowing that there was a newer version on android that I could not get just bugged me.

Have to say though that it is a really hard comparison, my feelings are as follows:

1 - The V30 feels nicer in the hand, the Pixel feels more robust. As someone who does not care about dual front speakers the Pixel is bigger than it needs to be for me
2 - Battery life is close with the egde in strandby going to the V30. Having said that there are some issues with 8.1 on the pixel so I do expect the 2XL to improve in this area
3 - No wireless charging or SD card on the 2XL is slightly annoying but liveable
4 - Audio quality (headphones) is noticeably better on the V30 both wired and wireless
5 - Prefer the AOD on the V30 and you still cannot schedule the AOD on the pixel
6 - Camera, pixel all day long
7 - Pixel is slightly zippier but not by much tbh, although 8.1 has made the FPS slower expect that to be fixed though

I have not sold the V30 yet which maybe says a lot.
