You're not missing out by not having Smart Settings. It's great if you don't realize your phone has the Play Store, otherwise you'd be better off downloading just about any other automation app. My current recommendation is MacroDroid.

Google Voice is a good alternative.

I just tried Google Voice. Was so confused trying to get that set up. Just going to stick with Verizon's voicemail premium. It's really solid even though its 2.99/month. I'm surprised they don't let unlocked phones use it since it is a paid feature for them to make more money.
