LG Watch Urbane - Your first impressions?

Ok. I guess I'll find out soon enough. Ordered and shipped. I use BT for Spotify in my car a lot.. It that isn't a true indicator since I am playing music constantly.

Those are great classic black watchfaces. Exactly what I was looking for my Moto 360.

Just got my Gold Urbane

Wow. Just arrived. Sleek, stylish, and looks exceptionally elegant. Took about 10 min. to setup and came from Google store almost fully charged. I own a number of other smart watches including the moto 360 and the Asus Zenwatch. This blows them all away.

Just curious.. In some of the pics the what I assume is a black watch face looks kinda washed out for an AMOLED. Are the pictures not true to life or is the watch face supposed to be lighter black or is the display not capable of something closer to true black?

That depends on the brightness setting. When it's in the on (dim) state, background is black. When you press the button or tap the screen the second hand appears and the screen does get brighter. On the picture it looks blueish but it's actually greyish or washed out.

Very interesting. The dim setting still appears pretty bright in that pic but the black is black. Cool beans. Thx for posting. I'm sure I'd probably have to see it in person to get a better idea.

Not sure when, but three more options for you are the Asus Zen watch, and two non-Android Wear options: the Samsung Gear S if you have a Samsung phone, and the Alcatel OneTouch watch which should be coming out soon.

A friend of mine as the Zen Watch and I saw yesterday for the first that is one nice looking watch and at $200.00 on Google Play Store.

I would second the Asus ZenWatch being a good looking / suit worthy watch. However, this also brings up the square vs. round debate. So it's really up to the individual, I suppose.

To each there own, but square just make more scene, most displays are square. Of course back in the 50' TV had round CRT because square was not available yet, same goes for Oscilloscopes. Now all you see is square. Displaying text on a square screen just makes more sense, you don't see to many round books. But then again to each there own.

I was all in for LG. I ordered the G2 for company phone use and paired it with a GPAD. After a little over a year the G2 died and although the GPAD is still alive and well, my overall LG experience has been tainted. I replaced my company phone with a Moto X and at half the cost of the Urbane, the Moto 360 will likely be my intro into the world of wearable's. The Urbane is a slick looking watch so at some point I may revisit the thought of acquiring one.

I thought a green dial would be nice too so seeing this watch gave me the idea that I could have ANY dial I wanted. It was win-win.

Right out of the box I can tell you that the rose gold is not what I expected. It is more bronze. It doesn't match my wedding band very well and I am skeptical that buying a gold band will match. I certainly won't buy a band online as I will need to see how it looks.

The case also doesn't seem as high-end as I thought it would be. It feels a bit "cheap". Mind you, I am not disappointed with it, it just wasn't what I was expecting.

And, as a previous poster pointed out, the blue dial you see in the pictures online is NOT accurate. This is definitely a black dial watch. I don't think it is deliberate but just be aware that the pictures make the dial look blue.

The battery came fully charged and I am now syncing and updating. I have to go find a real blue dial and green dial professional looking face now. It is too early to say whether I will like this watch as much as I had hoped and $350 is a lot to spend on a "test" item but I will reserve judgement for a few days.

Oh my, how do I count the ways how much I'm impressed with this watch. It's so much more smoother and glitch free than the Moto 360 that I sold on Ebay. I had the Moto for a few months and it was a nice watch, dont get me wrong, but this one is so much nicer, from the build quality to the ease of use and the screen brightness, and quality, its an all around beautiful specimen of technology. Thank you LG!

Thanks for your comments. I guess I am just not used to rose gold or even smartwatches at all. On FaceRepo, it seems that I need to pay the $2 for Watchmaker before I can load up any of them. I am not averse to paying the $2 but I am not sure I am going to keep this yet. Then comes the whole issue of a smartwatch. I can't figure it out. I have Uber installed on my phone and I read that I could use it on my watch. I don't see how. It is not an app in the watch itself and I can't even select "Call a car" from the actions menu - it is not "clickable". I also don't know how to set Whatsapp to vibrate and notify me on my watch. If anyone has any pointers, I would be most appreciative. Thx.
