Light leakage from ports on bottom of EVO.

I have small leakage under my home and search keys but I don't even notice it, I'm still within my 30 days but it's not a big enough problem for me to go trade in for.

I have a little light leakage under the search key. It looks like a little white dot but it is only noticeable at night. I also got mine within 30 days. Not a huge deal to me. I'd rather keep my brand new one that trade it in for a refurb.

light leackage

I just noticed some light under the home button and the menu ,I've only had evo for a week,is it going to get worst ,looks like the left corner bottom isn't in as much as the others .

Evo Light Leak/Screen Separation

I just noticed that I have some light leakage below the home button. You can only notice it in dark rooms. I also noticed that if I push down on the bottom of the screen, I can see it sort of bounce back. I would not have ever noticed that had I not seen the light leakage, or read about screen separation on several sites. The phone is working properly, so my question is anyone having this same light leakage? If so, did you return it to the store or not worried about it and keeping the phone? Today is my last day to return the phone at Best buy, but if this is a common problem, and does not get worse, I wonder if it is worth returning/exchanging? I also have the TEP insurance through sprint on the phone. I did some research, but everything is from back in June/July. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There have been a number of past threads about this so I think it is somewhat common. My first phone had the light leakage but I didn't mind it (ended up having to return it but not for that reason). Some people do mind it however and I know people have successfully returned the phone without having to pay the insurance fee. I assume those people who returned theirs had worse bleed than mine, since I didn't really mind it, although it was noticeable. So it's more a preference thing - if it doesn't bother you, then don't return it.

Thanks!
Also, if I do decide to exchange my phone for a new one, will I have to pay an activation fee to sprint? or do they wave that?

No u should not have to pay any activation fee. You should be fine its just for the first time. If you exchange a phone you dont have to pay an activation fee.

That's correct. Sprint customer service has generally been very good to deal with, and when I had to exchange my phone because of a broken USB port, they didn't ask questions or make me pay any fees. It was covered under the standard warranty, and I didn't have to pay even though I have insurance. Good luck.

Don't bother returning the phone as you will get a Refurb that will eventually have the same issue. I am on my 4th EVO (the other 3 ALL had Light Leakage and Screen Separation, dust under top left of screen). My 4th Evo has THE SAME ISSUES!!!!! I just decided it's not worth the hassle of getting a new unit AGAIN. I am rooted and have my phone set up the way I like it and don't want to go thru the setup again.

Had this on my first EVO and I have it on my new 0004 hardware my first EVO lasted 6 months so to me it is not a big deal not worth the haste of going through an exchange.

I had this issue with my Evo a month after getting it on launch day but decided to fix it myself...had no issues since. Just take black rubber silicone from the auto parts store, a half a bead and rub into bottom crack between glass and bezel. Wipe off excess clean glass and let cure 15mins. That's all she wrote, it will look just like new.

+1 on the black silicone. Works great and looks good as new. I couldn't find a small tube of the stuff so I had the big tube in a caulking gun. My wife walked in on me putting silicone on my EVO with the big- ass caulking gun and just walked out of the room.

lol.. i can just imagine the look on her face... its like the iron man situation.. just say " you caught me doing worse"... hahaha.

IM really starting to think they all do this to a degree.
My last one always did it and was getting worse. I had the screen swapped and still did it. You can only notice in a very dark enviroment though.

I got my GF an Evo a few weeks ago and hers does the same.

My brand new Evo has this...guess it's not worth exchanging in my free 30 day rule then. Maybe I'll try the silicon.
