Line in overriding bluetooth - solutions?

This is in the problem thread too- but with 9 pages- didn't know if everyone had visibility to this.

Some of us use a line input jack to send music to speakers at a desk or car unit- the Epic, will place priority to the line input rather than bluetooth- even if bluetooth is active and connected. This then results in you having to pull the line input when a call is received.

I also heard the line out jack does not currently work in the desktop dock and will be active by Froyo release... perhaps this is related? Can anyone confirm this issue?

Lastly- is there a widget perhaps that somehow assigns priority ? I thought I saw a widget bundle that listed sound output settings- but wasn't sure that would be the same thing and didn't want to buy it without knowing... I'd want bluetooth to take priority when paired.

Don't give up, like everything in life, the key to getting good at anything is trying as many times as needed until you get there, then keep trying somemore.

Most of us will be happy to test your app and provide feedback.

A little... I did some work on it today (mostly research) and got to laying out a list. Not hard to do with Eclipse, I know, but I wanted to give the App Inventor a go at it and its very different from what I've done in the past. Not difficult, in fact, it makes a lot of sense, which is nice. Everything has a lock and key to make sure everything is doing something and that its right. My biggest trouble is going to be setting music to play audio through 3.5 jack and calls through bluetooth. I need to do the research on that :/ Thats what worries me, not the GUI, thats the easy part (for me).

this is one of the biggest quirks of the epic. u want to listen to music in your car, but when some one calls you, you cant use the bluetooth. if you do this, i would be a happy camper and appriciate it very much

I have a lot of overnight shifts coming up for work... unfortunately I cannot bring my computer in, but I can do some research on my phone. The graveyard shift is usually boring in my line of work, so I SHOULD have time, save a natural disaster occurs.

This isn't completely true- the bluetooth connection will still pick up and answer the call- as the phone is... so it's working to a point- it's the SOUND that should be sent via bluetooth if you use the BT connection to answer the call that is the problem.

Yes, that is the goal. Thats pretty much how I have the foundation setup now. No graphics guys... I'm using the App Inventor as a pilot, and it isn't as forgiving in the graphics section as what you can do with Eclipse and Java.

Sorry, haven't been motivated to fix this since DI07 fixed the line in problem. I can talk on the phone through my car stereo when its plugged in. I know people with bluetooth audio are still screwed, but I'm at a loss on how to even fix this. Sorry.
