Lines on back of Moto X

Has anyone noticed lines (look like scuffs) on the back of the Moto X? They run from the top to bottom. I have a case so maybe that is why. Not too concerned about it since I always have the case on but am still wondering how they got there. Would try applying a damp cloth to the back but figure that might do more harm.

Just the plain black back.

My guess is the case is the cause, especially if you've had it on the whole time. I've never read a complaint about this otherwise.

Thanks! I try to take the case off at least once a week for cleaning. I could try removing it with alcohol but am afraid I'll make it worse. Probably better off just leaving it be.
