Link Contacts

So I am just about done setting up my phone and I am trying to link my contacts. Now on my mom's HTC inspire that I set up, when I linked her FB contacts some showed up and others didn't. I could then go and manually link them. On my Atrix, when I try to link them manually to FB their names don't even appear on the list. I am thinking that is because the list only shows contacts who have their phone numbers listed on FB. If that is right is there a way to override that? I want to manually link them, just don't know how.
