Links in WhatsApp now not working

Hi - the links in my WhatsApp no longer are underlined and do not open when pressed. This was working last week. I have deleted cache, deleted data and re installed WhatsApp but still not working. I have a Samsung S8+ - also have updated the android software. Would be very grateful for any help.

Welcome to the forums. Which Android version do you have after the system update? Is this problem only happening with WhatsApp or is the same on other apps?

Have you disabled/uninstalled Chrome, Android System Webview or any other Google app?

Hi Javier - no only with WhatsApp - have not touched any other apps - undated latest Samsung drivers - Android 9 security patch 1 April 2020

This is very strange. Which format do those links have? Do they start with http/https?

You could run a few tests sending links on different ways to one of your contacts (copy/paste, send directly from a browser, news app, etc).

Could you post a screenshot (hiding any personal info) with some of the links that are not working?

Also, have you checked if WhatsApp is still highlighting phone numbers?

1. Yes WhatsApp is highlighting the peoples names - so normal
2. Yes they are starting with http or https format
3. Yes if you copy the link and then paste in google the link will open so they are all good links.
4. I have sent the links to my work phone (iPhone 8 and various friends including Samsung S20+ rather than S8+) and all of them work on those phones

I meant a screenshot of the links that weren't underlined in your phone, to see any difference. Those links that you attached seem to be working fine, how do they look in your phone when you send them (not received on another one)?

I think WhatsApp doesn't underline links if the person that sent them is not in your contacts.
