I am wondering if we can start a thread with just the differences between 2.1 and 2.2 They are scattered all over the place. So far I have noticed:

Speaker - No Tinny Vibration
Screen Rotation Left and Right

Others?

-New Slide -To-Unlock look (still lags as stated)
-SMS now has a big scroll button on the right side so you can easily scroll through long SMS messages.
-Google Voice Actions (very cool!!!)
-Save apps to SD card
-Native News and Weather widget
-take picture using onscreen shutter button with native camera app
-You can hold your finger on the home screen switcher/selector and slide through pages = Super fast!
-Updated Gmail app
-Gallery app looks different and flows better

Unable to disable Slide to Unlock in 2.2 like you were in 2.1.

Really dumb idea if you are using a pattern lock already as slide to unlock enhances nothing on the security side of things and is pretty much useless on the droid x anyway as the phone is enabled by pressing the home button.

I have noticed that you can select the photo of a contact when in an area that displays the photo and a bar appears with actions to call, review contact, email, SMS, etc. pretty cool.

The annoying thing about the new release is the PIN policy after waking up my phone. It's bad enough to have to slide to unlock and really annoying to have to enter in a pin if it hasn't been waken in 15 minutes!!!!

Mine doesn't do this

-Need For Speed is reinstalled.

Anyone know if the GPS bug was fixed? The one where having GPS made it so the phone couldn't standby. I suppose I can test it now...

if you leave gps turned on it seems like it only activates the gps when it needs it example when you open maps the gps icon on the task bar appears and when you close it, it disappears so i'm assuming its turning it self on/off as needed. but it needs to be on int he locations setting menu.

Well here is waht i noticed:

native text messaging is smoother, less glitchy (nothing to run home to mom about)

Transitioning from Car Dock or Multimedia dock is ALOT better

The ability to end a call with the power button

Moto weather widget now has location settings.
Also various ui changes.

Test completed! Here are the steps:
1) Charge phone completely and unplug to reset the battery usage stats
2) Enable GPS and aGPS
3) Open Google Maps to have the GPS get used (note the GPS symbol in the notification bar)
4) Close Google Maps (note the GPS symbol is gone, which happened in 2.1)
5) Wait patiently
6) Check the battery usage stats via Options -> Battery -> Usage
7) Confirm that Phone idle and Cell Standby are in the list!

I am so glad this has been fixed!

This is true. I had GPS on but the little satellite icon was not in the status bar. As soon as I went into a program that needed GPS the little satellite icon appeared and as soon as I closed the program, the icon disappeared. It did not do this in 2.1, the GPS icon was in the status bar the entire time it was on with 2.1.

Looks like we've all got VZ Navigator now whether we like it or not. I want my 2.3Mb back

Not only that but it keeps popping up in the list of running programs, along with CityID, when I had a task killer program on.

Why is it that Microsoft had their pants sued off for bundling Internet Explorer and their online service and not allowing people to uninstall them and Verizon is getting away with essentially doing the same exact thing??

i havent used task kill yet today, DX performance hasn't lagged yet, and battery is still at 100% @ 11:05am been off of charger since 8:30am-

In Gmail you now have the option to be notified for every email that comes in, not just the first one.
