List your EC05 Problems/Praise

There may be some apps that you are using that may not compatible with froyo 2.2.1

I would try and reflash the upgrade minus the apps you had on eclair from the market place, by that I mean start fresh and see if you have any problems, then and only then start adding one app at a time, only after that app has proven compatible, then another app until that proved its compatible, etc - that is the only way to trouble shoot properly - before you start blaming the phone. A PITA but it might just help.

I have 116 3rd party apps, and they all work perfect, but it took many hours of reading and testing to get all to work perfectly - but preperation is key to solid reliability.

My speaker is fried...it worked on the first day and it died on my the second day after update. anyone experiencing the same issue/know a fix (i wiped my phone twice already)? any help would be much appreciated!

Thats the only one problem but also the deal breaker for me. I am bring this into the shop for a replacement (unless they can fix it...)

Since I updated from EB13 to EC05 I've had a couple of significant issues. I've seen one of them alluded to in this thread, but nothing about the other. I'm not rooted.

1) The one that I've seen is the problem with my PC (on Windows 7, 64 bit) not recognizing the phone when connected via USB. I haven't figured out how to correct this yet, other than the suggestion of a powered USB hub. I can buy a powered USB hub if necessary, but I don't understand why one would be required now when it worked before EC05.

2)My second problem is a little bit bigger. Occasionally it seems like the phone will stop recognizing files on the Micro SD card. I use Ringdroid to make my ringtones and they get saved to the SD. When the phone stops recognizing those files my phone stops ringing. While messing around with the phone while this was happening I realized that the phone still sees those files but it doesn't know what to do with them. I attempted to open music files with both the stock music player and Winamp and it says that the file type isn't supported. If I reboot the phone it seems to correct itself. Anyone know what might be causing this and how to correct?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Try switching to a port on the back of the computer. These are often directly connected to the motherboard.

Try this app, this might cure your problem - I use it when/if I need to and it is safe - it simply rescans your Micro SD card as if you rebooted - it is called Rescan Media by Aditya Talpade in the Marketplace.

So if when your phone stops recognizing those ringtone files and your phone stops ringing, BUT your phone still sees other files on your card, try refreshing with the app I mentioned. If my suggestion works, I would try another ringtone app and see if that gives you the same problems.

reboot annoyance

OK, this random reboot issue is really starting to annoy me. Today I have experienced three random reboots. The only thing that is different in terms of software is that I have updated LauncherPro Plus recently. I have noticed, however, that the reboots are only when my phone is in the leather carrying case. Maybe I am hitting something?

I rooted with 2.5.1.0 one click. There are no custom ROMs installed. EC05. I've pulled the battery. Properly shut things down. Wiped the cache.

Any ideas?

My bet is that you are hitting something and/or LP changed a screen setting when it updated - at least you already know what is causing the problem - thats most of the battle right there! :-)

Make sure that the phone is facing toward you and away from the magnet. The magnet activates the phones touchscreen.

Thanks mouse. I will try that one. I don't think it's necessarily the ringtone app though, as the phone stops recognizing all of my files on my SD card. I can't play any of my MP3's or any video files. Hopefully the Rescan Media app will at least let me get the files to work again without rebooting.

I can confirm this. I can't get any computer to recognize my ec05 epic. My work computer, my laptop, my desktop, xp, vista and win7, nothing works. And yes, my phone worked fine on every one of the computers above when I had eclair. Also tried it with two different cords.

Keith,

Last night I decided to try uninstalling the device from Windows and then plugging it in and allowing it to reinstall and it worked. The phone was then recognized. I'm not certain if it's always going to recognize the phone going forward, but it's a start.

Generally do. If it is facing the magnet, I put it in that way by mistake. In all three circumstances, the screen was away from the magnet.

Updated from EB13 to EC05 using the Paul's manual method with Odin w/o data wipe. Everything works great EXCEPT 3G roaming on Verizon. Where I work, there is no Sprint signal but there are Verizon repeaters. Before updating to EC05, I could get data while on Verizon. After update, voice only on roaming. 3G/4G work ok on Sprint.

Wanted to share my experience since I updated this way too...not sure if subsequent radio issues are directly related or not, but now am going to get replacement unit because radio seems hosed - for both voice and 3G data (no 4G here).

Have updated profile, PRL reloaded EC05 modem, then Odin'ed back to DI18 with no improvement (even though had reasonable signal before EC05 (i.e. after EB13)). TWS doesn't seem too bad, but phone sits near an Airave most of the day. So this could be an unrelated HW issue, but seem unlikely.

Looking at the mix of issues here... seems like reliability of update and ability to get back to a clean functioning system should be higher than everyone experienced!

I have had never ending lack of signal issues & no roaming abilities ever since I upgraded to eb13. Well I flashed the ec05 modem avail from xda & ever since it works as well or better than it did on di18, as far as signal & service issues go.

The ec05 modem seems to be a huge improvement over eb13 (otherwise stock eb13).

Can you let me know which one? There's quite a few alts on XDA (I'd used the acs-ec05-modem.tar file)

Mic problems since update to Froyo

At a random point in my phone calls, the people on the other line cannot hear me. My mic basically stops working; this has happened when I have a headset plugged in or simply when I'm on the phone so I assume it's a software issue. If I switch to speaker (faster than the other party can assume the call cut out) they can hear me just fine. I can't find anything about this, except possibly that it may be an issue with having bluetooth turned on. Am I really just supposed to remember to keep bluetooth off when not in use, every time? That seems ridiculous. Thoughts?

Original, unrooted Epic with EC05
Where do we start?
1) randomly, suddenly the player, well... plays.
2) sometimes the phone rings too much and doesn't allow me to answer, to regain normal use I have to pull the battery
3) it started to keep logs of all the SMS, no way to disable it.
4) on the PLUS side, finally I get a decent battery usage

So far after updating to 2.2:

1) Phone randomly reboots
2) Phone randomly freezes up and vibrates uncontrollably (need to pull
battery)
3) Bluetooth works, but most of the time freezes the phone if left on after
disconnecting from a paired connection (need to pull battery)
4) Screen constantly flipping to horizontal if I even think about moving it,
then forced to shake it like an epileptic to get it back to vertical
5) Slight delay in screen waking up after hitting wakeup key
6) Battery drains at a ridiculous rate vs 2.1 with the same settings & apps
7) TWS bug STILL not fixed and need to do silly airplane mode toggle after
reboot!!
8) DRM service STILL needs to be manually killed after reboot

But other than that... It's great! :p

So, I don't know if quoting yourself is frowned upon in these forums, but this is an update on my situation. I did a hard reset and even switched to TwouchWiz from LauncherPro cuz I thought LP was the source of my problem.

Well, it worked incredible for a whole day, and I was actually in love with my Epic again!! :)

But then, the next day.....Phone froze after using Bluetooth and turning on Navigation app, and then TW force closes immediately after turning on, and continually force closes and will not go any further!!! After about 30 times and quick finger work, I managed to get into Settings and switch to the God awful Sprint Launcher so I could go and d/l LP again. And TW is STILL unresponsive, and I would probably have to wipe my phone AGAIN to fix it!!

This is awesome!!! Android Rocks!! With products like this, Apple must really be shaking in their boots! :p

I may be wrong, but after the update my GPS app will not run in the background. If I switch to the Home screen or to another app the icon will remain in the notification bar but returning to the GPS puts me back at the main screen. The same happens with Trapster as well. Is there a setting I missed?
