List your EC05 Problems/Praise

I will be seriously upset if GPS is now broken, but I haven't checked it.

Weird occurrence yesterday and this morning. Epic randomly played one of the cheesy morning wake-up alarms "Mist" I think. I did have an alarm set, but didn't have that feature turned on. The times I was hearing it were both much different from the time I'd set on the alarm. I will clear data in the clock app and cross fingers.

How about the "caller ID ringer" which was available under 2.1, went away on the short-lived 2.2/DL18, and I thought would be reintroduced in EC05 but hasn't. I haven't seen anyone else mention it but this was a feature I used and found quite useful.

Regardless, it's a feature that was removed, and has not been added back and I've seen no mention of it.

Anyone know anything about this?

USB to computer is super slow to non existent, I'm getting irritated about it! Other than that everything seems to work fine, and 4g seems a lot faster and more stable

I no longer have Pandora, Auduigalaxy or the stock music players widgets. I go to add them back from the choose widget screen and they are not there. The apps are still on my phone and work. Anyone else see this and maybe know how to get them back or are they gone forever?

Thanks!

Seems like I'm the only person who after upgrade is having scrolling problems. It actually comes and goes but when it doesn't scroll it's unuseable! I can't even slide the lock upwards to unlock the phone unless I SLOWLY move it. And scrolling through the applications is impossible cuz it just picks one I slide over. I "factory reseted" the phone but its still slow as sh&t!!

Anybody else??? Any suggestions???

bbeck- did you manually upgrade?
The only thing I can think of is to reinstall via Odin if so. I have a funny response on my phone locking up and actaully flashed via Odin and got rid of the problem so far.

No, I just got the OTA over the stock ROM. Thanks...I'm definitely going to try that.

No one is finding the contact book missing a problem?

To me pulling up the phone dial pad and not being able to pull up the contacts with just the magnifying glass is just too beyond the pale and if someone doesn't tell me there's a fix this phone is going back and way past their 30 days. We'll see if the American Express card has the last word or not. This isn't the phone I tried out. There[s now two extra steps away from the bottom of the pad to get where one down low and easy to get to used to be done with the entire operation.

No one else uses this for a phone???

Did you back up your phone before you did the upgrade? Or did you sync with Google?

FINALLY got it here in NY, NY at 2am on 3/25/11 after waiting since I got Epic on "day 1". My bug is that my "Google acct" doesnt recognize my password so I cant get to Gmail, Andr. Market, etc cause box keeps popping up asking to verify my Google acct & password! Weird! Any advice?

I had the same issue, what I ended up doing was using Odin to go back to DI18 and set up my google information, then I updated and it has been working perfectly since.

That's what I figured. :( Everything else is better with 2.2. My GPS actually worked well on 2.1until this update. My luck with tech equipment I'm afraid...

Thanks for the input.

If your phone was better on 2.1, my suggestion would be use Odin to go back to 2.1 and then try the update again. My first update had some issues, but the 2nd time everything was working as expected.

I manually updated to EC05 and then rooted. Haven't installed a MOD.

The install went smoothly. The only program that didn't work was z4mod (hence, rooting the phone through alternate means).

Initial thoughts:
1. I like the color offerings in the settings menu. I don't know why; it's just more appealing.
2. Scrolling between homescreens is consistently smoother compared to Eclair
3. Launcher Pro Plus works like a charm and didn't have any issues
4. I finally can connect to Android Market. Before, I would have to reboot in order to connect.
5. I can finally add additional accounts to my Gmail app (and upgrade the GMail app).
6. The News and Weather app is nice, but I get this information via Beautiful Widgets and Pulse.
7. The phone overall is more stable with fewer crashes
8. I have no opinion about battery life; I'm using Ultimate Juice and haven't had EC05 on my phone long enough. (Plus, it's been plugged in to a USB charger for 2 out of the last 3 days playing music all day.)
9. Accessing applications via the settings menu (as if to clear cache or uninstall) is much faster.
10. GPS works faster
11. Faster 4G lock
12. Can rotate screen to each side now
13. Contacts now has a search bar and an add contact option always visible

Things I haven't liked.
1. For some reason, I can't find a way to turn on audible clicks for the phone dialer and turn off audible clicks for the keyboard.
2. The phone auto-rotates to easily now
3. More frequent FCs of some programs (mostly games).
4. Sprint ID

I don't really understand why you don't do one of the following:
1) Use the Search button ("mag glass") from the home screen, and just type in contact's name from there.

2) Place a shortcut to "Contacts" on your home screen, and just press that instead of doing the 2-step "Phone, then contacts" process.

I received the update this morning and the biggest issue that I have is with the Samsung and Android keyboards.

Samsung Keyboard - auto suggestion is fine, but can't turn off the audible clicks and vibrate when pressing the keys.

Android Keyboard - auto suggestion is way off like others have noted. However, the recommendations are not puncuation, but last names of Contacts.

I have also noticed that there is a lag when pressing the power button on the phone. It's not a big deal, but the lag is about 1.5 seconds and was instant on the previous version.

4G appears much better, I'm actually able to connect in places where I was not able to before.

To turn off or on the audible clicks on the screen keyboard, go to menu...settings...sounds and scroll down to feedback. I believe you toggle "Audible Touchtones."

As for Sprint ID, I dont have a problem with. Activate the app and scroll all the way to the botton to show "Clear" and it installs a clean Android theme. There isnt even a wallpaper.

So far I am liking this new upgrade.

Thanks scoob! I assumed since the Android keyboard had the vibrate and audible settings within the keyboard menu that the Samsung keyboard would as well.

Let me say hello all, im new here and to rooting also. I had this same issue after manually updating to eb13. I never got the ota even though my fiancee did so i just dl eb13 from samsung and went from there. I loved it at 1st. Then my fiancee started having this issue and then so did I. It seems to be if not everyday then almost everyday. All sound would be routed through the ear speaker instead of the loud speaker. Rebooting was the only way to fix it. It seemed completely random. I went so far as to remove all apps that we had in common to see if it was an app causing the issue. Never found a solution so i thought i would try rooting. I tried most roms in this forum for eb13 and now ec05. i even went back to stock di18 and never had the problem. While on di18 i tried a few roms even stock rooted and they were fine but my blue ant q2 doesnt work well with di18 so i moved to dk28 stock rooted and had the speaker issue again so i tried nebula rom. That is very possibly my favorite rom. I loved everything about it but i still had the speaker issue. An odd note is that it took longer to show up, almost a full week before i noticed the problem where most times it would present itself after a day or so. With much sadness i left nebula to do back to rooted stock eb13, no luck so i tried ace rom 1.7, also possibly my fav rom. Its a toss up between the two. I continued to have the speaker issue and decided to go back to stock di18. I got the ota for ec05 and its been a day so far and no issues with the speaker or bluetooth. I did have an issue where i couldnt send any texts for a few hours maybe a quirk i dont know yet. It just said sending and after rebooting it seemed fine. My question is does anyone have any other ideas as to the speaker issue? The bluetooth thing is most likely result of the di18s lack of voice dialing and ext4 breaking bluetooth functions. The speaker thing bugs me though and i shouldnt have to reboot everyday to keep it all straight.

Didn't want to wait for OTA. Updated from EB13 to EC05 using the Paul's manual method with Odin w/o data wipe. Everything works great EXCEPT 3G roaming on Verizon. Where I work, there is no Sprint signal but there are Verizon repeaters. Before updating to EC05, I could get data while on Verizon. After update, voice only on roaming. 3G/4G work ok on Sprint. Tried to update PRL and got an error. I'm about to toss this Epic failure.

I work for outsourcer that handles customer service calls for a regional cell phone carrier and I heard that the problem is on Verizon's end, because the regional carrier uses verizon's towers in areas of the country that the regional carrier doesn't have its own in order to supply national coverage. There was a data outage with Verizon recently. So hopefully this should just be a temporary problem for you.
