ADW is a launcher which can be downloaded from the market. After it installs all you have to do is hit your home button and you'll be prompted to use it.

It depends on whether or not you installed the non-themed edition (NTE) or the re-mix, but you should definitely notice some subtle differences, such as the changed battery meter on the notification bar, as well as the 6-bar signal meter, to name a few.

Frankly, the first time I installed, I did it using ROM Manager, without a full wipe, and not all of the elements were there. The second I installed I did it in clockwork, and did a full wipe first, and it worked much better.

One of the big things you should see, or rather not be seeing, is all the bloatware that Verizon added to the phone. It is no longer there and no longer eating cpu cycles, running services that are not needed or wanted or just sucking up space.

The other thing that you have, but cannot see, is the ability to use new tools and utilities to enhance the phone.

There's not much different between stock and non-themed bamf as far as look goes. The main differences are optimization and bloat removed. I prefer the remixes because of the theme.
