Little red square with white "N" in various buttons

Hi guys,

I'm on day 3 with my Zenfone 2 and have been figuring it out as I go. But I'm still puzzeld by the little red squares with a white "N" inside them that occasionally appear next to buttons or menu items, as shown below. Does anyone care to share their meaning?
