I updated the peel smart remote app on my GS6 and after i rebooted the phone it showed up on mine as well. Pretty annoying if you ask me that they did that. I dont and have never used the app and for them to update the app and then force that on me is pretty lame.

I have an S6 and I had to do a soft reset, which was holding power + volume down. Then my phone restarted and I was free to uninstall. Not sure if you restart the same way on a note.

Same thing was happening with my S6. I came here to figure out what was going on. While I was reading (about 10 minutes ago) they released another update. It seems to have taken care of the issue for now. I looked at the reviews on Google Play and it looks like tons of other people were having the same problem.

I took out the Sim card and for what ever reason that worked to disable the app. wifi was already disabled. I was then free to uninstall. Thanks for the post. this was frustrating as hell to figure out.

Like others have said, it's the Peel app. If you just want to disable the widget from your screen, go to the Peel app icon press on it, settings.
Go down, you'll see Quick Remote Widget, turn it off. That's it!

If you don't use it and want to disable it, go to settings, applications, all, scroll down to the Peel smart remote, uninstall updates, after that, uncheck the show notifications box than disable.
That's it! It won't bother you again.

I use it all the time at home, it's a great app but I understand that it could get annoying for those that don't use it.

Thanks, I couldn't find what was responsible for doing this until I looked it up.
Hard to believe it completely freezes the OS of the phone forcing us to power cycle the device.
It just popped up one day and started making trouble for me.
