What is the easiest way to get a single photo out of a live photo series?

By "live photo" do you mean the burst you get when you hold down the shutter button?
If so, open the photo in gallery. When you first open it you will see the overlaying text with the number of photos taken such as "22 photos". Click on that text. Along the bottom of the screen you will see all the photos. Scroll to the photo that you want and click on it. Now at the top of the screen click "Save Image". Done.
