Live wallpapers look terrible

Hello all, I just upgraded to the skyrocket from the sgs2, which I absolutely adored. Based on the reviews I figured the displays were largely the same quality, but boy was I shocked when I saw the skyrocket display. Live wallpapers look awful--I can see every single pixel, and the colors aren't displaying the way they were on the sgs2. This happens with both the stock wallpapers and the ones I downloaded from the marketplace that had always looked beautiful on the sgs2. I don't notice this problem with still wallpaper, videos, or any other app.

Has anyone else noticed this, or did I just get a defective device?

Some are pretty terrible, but the expensive HD ones are worth a look.
To really test the screen with a live wallpaper download Christmas HD live wall. It costs money and drains the battery, but you may change your opinion.
Otherwise I just ditch the live walls and use a HD picture from ( (( Sciphone )) ) or http://interfacelift.com.

Magenta (Red) looks great on these AMOLED screens.

What I don't understand is why the same wallpapers that look terrific on the galaxy s2 look terrible on this phone. Isn't it the same display for the most part? I'm trying to figure out if I have a defective unit.

The screen is bigger but the resolution is the same as SGS2. If you increase the size of the screen but you keep the resolution same as the smaller screen then you'll see more pixels.

Under settings->Display, check to see if you have "Auto adjust screen power" checked. Mine came checked by default, and I hear the SGS2 doesn't. Unchecking this made a huge difference for me in terms of color display.

meant to respond yesterday when i first saw this post.

GUYS!

read THIS thread! it explains all regarding the OPs issue. Sorry but all of ours are like this even if some people don't 'notice' it.

I don't have any problem with Live wallpapers, including the ones that came with the phone. They are crisp and run smooth! No resolution problems here. Maybe you have a bad phone.
