Lock icon on lock screen?

I don't know if I have just never seen it, or I am losing my mind but does anyone else have a little lock button on their lock screen? When i click it, my springboard crashes and the phone reboots.... but it never goes away.... very weird...

Yeah I don't have that on my lock screen and I have Verizon as well

I have sometimes. I think it has to do with trusted devices. I have my moto 360 and gear circle set up as trusted devices to keep my phone unlocked. I'm not even close to sure that is what it's for though. Do you have a wearable or Bluetooth device set up in that way?

Trusted devices could be anything from watches to headsets. When I connect my wearable devices I do not see that lock logo

Google search indicates it's Lollipop's new Smart Lock feature. Settings>Security>Advanced... Smart Lock. I don't run LP so I don't see this on my N4.

If there is no security on the lock screen so it just opens with a swipe, the lock icon is so you can properly lock it. Say you're at "home" and have Smart Lock enabled to not have lock screen security at "home", then maybe you want to leave your phone down but want to secure it temporarily.

how do you take the lock off the screen? My options are greyed out on the Security tab??
