Yes, the factory data reset you would go to settings>scroll down to device>storage>factory data reset. Then if you want to do the system update make sure your phone is on wifi and charged to at least 35%. Then go to settings>scroll down to system>AT&T software update

O.K. So you're saying that a factory reset would wipe out all my data, and the ICS update, and return my phone to GB?

Yes, unmount and take out memory card and sim I say just to play it safe and yes, the phone I was using was the beats display phone so had Icecream sandwich, we reset and it didn't. Then I did the update. This is assuming your phone didn't have Icecream sandwich when you bought it? I am not aware if the new ones are shipping with it.

I bought it in Feb. at AT&T, and it had Gingerbread on it. I believe that it had Beats Audio already on it, but it was definitely GB 2.3.?. Thanks for all the info.

Do make sure you're backed up. You'll be able to recover your apps from the market or wherever you downloaded them from. Your contacts will be re-synched from Gmail. With a hard reset, you'll be setting up the phone from scratch, with the exception of regaining your stuff from the resynch.

Here's the answer i was looking for...The weather wiper works when the app on your home screen says SHOWERS, not when it says RAIN. A reset has everything working correctly.
