Which way are you trying to activate Safe Mode? While the phone is on, press the Power button to bring up the onscreen power options. Then long-press the Power Off option until you see the message about Safe Mode appear.

The options my phone when I press the POWER OFF button is Power Off, Restart, Screen Shot and Emergency. No other options. If I long press the key, nothing happens.

Right, so when you see those options on the screen, long-press the Power Off option (on the screen). Do you see a window that appears asking if you want to reboot into Safe Mode?

After you get those options you need to long press the 'Power off' message not the key.

I apologize. I confused the Power button with the Power Off. I checked it in the safe mode and it made no difference.

Not withstanding all of problems with the lock screen, here is a post that reflects what's missing on my pixel.

How do i set a lock screen message?
To enter or edit a lock screen message, you just have to follow a few simple steps:
Access the settings screen on your device.
Tap on Lock screen & security.
Select Lock screen preferences.
Tap on Lock screen message.
Enter the message you want to be shown on your lock screen.
Save the changes to set the message.

Ok, but to help us understand better what your phone is showing you, go to the system settings and type "lock screen" in the search bar, then show us a screenshot of the results.

My safe mode instructions do not work. What am I doing wrong? Also when you want to attach a screenshot when you are responding to a post, hit the paper clip and go to either ALBUM or Files IMAGES and click on the file to be attached..I don't have the paper clip showing.

What are you using to post here, any of the apps or a browser?

Where can I find this on my pixel 3?

Open your phone's Settings app.

Tap Display  Advanced  Lock screen display  Lock screen message.

Enter your message, like info that would help someone return your phone if you lost it.

Just type it in your settings search bar
