Lock screen functionality change after 6.0 update

Just updated to MM
Previously, when I went to unlock my phone and I was still under my 'security lock timer' time. The phone would act as if swipe unlock was enabled. I would swipe it unlocked and it would display the 'circle mosaic' swipe effect and sound during the swipe. Now it just dumps me to the home screen. Also, if I have the 'power button instantly locks' selected it now ignores the 'circle mosaic' sound effect and just plays the default sound.
I like the swipe effect and sometimes just want to check the time or glance at alerts instead of going straight to home screen. How can I get the previous functionality back (without downgrading, of course).

I have an htc M9. I have the same problem. Though I get the basic swipe screen back if i use the instant lock option. So i either have no steps or two steps to unlock my phone. I dont always want the home screen when i hit the power button. But the instant lock adds swipe before I can draw my pattern, prior, I would just get the pattern when the time out had passed. I carry my phone in my pocket a lot and bumping that power button happens a lot.
