Lock screen notification for text messages doesn't show name

For me, it only shows the contact number. This isn't very helpful as I don't memorize my contact phone numbers.

Anyone else have this issue? Once I go into the text message app, it displays the name fine, just not on the notification. I looked through all the settings and couldn't see anything that would be causing this.

I tried mine out even though I don't use that lock screen and it shows the names.

Try resetting the phone maybe?

Mine did the same thing when I used the Messaging scene. I switched back to the regular HTC scene with the txt pop-up notification.

When I switched to the "weather" lock screen, it showed the contact name and picture for the text message. Seems like it's just the "productivity" lock screen that has issues. That's the one I need though as I want the email notifications.

Yeah. I'll just keep the productivity screen minus the text alerts and just manually check it... no big deal.... but that's weird that it works for some and not others.

I have had this issue come and go. Not sure if it is linked to running or not running anything, but hopefully it's a bug that is fixed in the first round.

i had the same issue and found out how to fix. any of the contacts that are showing up as numbers instead of names just remove the parentheses and dashes out of the phone number in contacts. also, add a 1 before the area code. ;)

You don't need to add 1 to the area code. Not on cellular. In fact its not desirable.

But another thing along the same line that trips this up is people who only put 7 digits of the phone number in, instead of including the Area code. This will also cause phone calls from those people from being able to show your custom image for them.

This works 100% of the time for me with the Weather lock screen.

I also have this issue, I'm using the productivity lock screen style.

There's no way I'm combing through my contacts to remove the parenthesis and dashes from the stored phone numbers to fix this.

I reported the issue to HTC here: HTC Smartphones and Tablets - Support for HTC Cell Phones and Tablets

The more that report it the faster it will be fixed - and hopefully be in the next update.

i agree it would be a pain in the ass. i just edit the contacts as i get the texts that show number only. i will report the issue as well.

.

Calm down. It was bogus information. It is not necessary to do this.

Caller ID comes into your phone as 10 digits (for North American phone numbers). If you contacts have 10 digits it will find the match, even if you have dashes and parenthesis. If you are in the habit of entering contacts with only 7 digits, it won't find a match.

The Weather lock screen does it right.

And you still get email notifications and can access email by simply pulling down the notification bar.

The recommendation to hack all your Phone numbers in contacts is bogus. (Never change the whole world just to accommodate a bug).

That the Productivity Lock screen needs fixing is NOT bogus.
