Hey guys I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or not. So all of the pre-installed lock screen wallpapers come up
in full color when you unlock the device. Now when I set up my own lock screen wallpaper it basically fades to the background and is very dark and almost black. The clock and camera, phone icons are bright like normal. Is this the way it's suppose to be?
Do I maybe need to move the wallpaper I want to use to where the lock screen wallpapers are?

When you got it, in the Lock screen and security. If you had Swipe set as the screen lock type, did you set Unlock effect to none?

If you did, change it to one of the 2 choices and then try to go to the unlock screen. You should see your pic come up just like the pre-installed lock screen wallpapers. Then if you change the screen lock type to something else like Pin or fingerprint or any choice, it should show your pic bright, as long as you leave the unlock effect to either water droplet or sparkling bubbles.

I think it is a bug with using none on the unlock effect, that carries over to any mode of unlocking.

I had the same issue with my phone. Went to ATT store and the sales guy there called the regional rep. I had not put much on the phone at that point so we did a total reset and then fixed it.

Hopefully it works for you as well.

Thanks for the reply. I did a full reset a couple of days ago and it's still there. It's not really a big issue but its annoying.. When you select your photo is it located with the stock ones?

Wow thanks! This has to be a bug. I did exactly what you said and it works. Once I change it back to swipe with no effect it goes back to dull photo. Interesting. I will just keep finger print unlock for now. Like I said before it's not the end of the world just annoying. Thanks again!

Using a Note 4 running on 5.1.1. I've tried changing the unlock effect to water and it didn't help. What i did to make it work was to install a Xposed module called "Bright Lockscreen"

I just had to get used to it, it looks really bad when the wallpaper is supposed to be solid black. Occasionally it adds shadows to the top and bottom of the screen which is weird but a simple restart fixes it.
