Lock Screen Widget on S5: UNavailable feature? Want to add an Analog Clock to Lock Screen

In addition to not having lock screen widgets, it seems that you also lose a lot of lock screen options. Now all I can have as a unlock effect is damn bubbles!!

while i totally understand that me liking an analog clock on my Lock Screen is a bit out of the ordinary, it ought not be a crippled feature set on a flagship phone in 2014!

the current only option, which is the default digital clock, is furthermore in white text ONLY. this creates a problem for those of us with a wallpaper that is light in color. at the very least, they ought to allow to select several color options for the text of the digital clock, if not an entire gamut of colors, maybe just 5 colors? ugh!

You can actually change both the lock screen and the home screen, but it's a bit deceiving on how to do it.

Press and hold on an empty spot in your home screen. When the menu comes up, in the lower left hand corner is the wallpaper setting.
Select Wallpaper, then select Lock Screen. It will say wallpaper at the top, but you can still select images.
Once you've selected the image you like, tap "set wallpaper" at the top.
Verify it's done by pressing sleep and then bringing it back up.

Done!

As for widgets, I'm not familiar enough w/ android to see if it's possible, so I'm sorry I'm not much help there. I'm a recent convert from Win7.

Hi,
Yes it's possible!
Press and hold on an empty spot in your home screen. When the menu comes up, in the middle you'll see ''Widgets'' setting.
Select widgets, then select analog clock which you've downloaded before. Press and hold on the clock then transfer it to where ever you want. I've done it on my S5.
Hope it helps :-)

OBS!
My mistake, sorry! Seems is not possible!

Please note that Lock Screen and Home Screen are two different things. Thanks.

I am assuming but could be wrong that the removal of lock screen widgets is a 4.4 thing? I have "rented" an 8.4 tab pro and a 12.2 note pro, both running 4.4.2 and lock screen widgets are not available. My opinion, that is dumb because I LOVE having my sports scores and google now widgets on my lock screen. I am still on 4.3 with my note 3.

Words cannot begin to describe how pissed off I am about this it's basically removed the functionality of the phone being able to quickly access contacts, flashlight, browser etc and swipe to camera from where features that saved so much ******* about it's just like they've gone backwards actually can't believe it :-\

I actually have to agree!
This is my first android device, coming from "the dark side" of apple.
It just seems everything "important" (well important to me!) Is either hard to find or impossible!
No camera from lock screen? (Australia - telstra supplied phone)
No voice dialling overriding the lock screen? (Essential when driving!)
Just two of my major frustrations after week 1 ownership!

So my big thing with KitKat 4.4.2 including the Cyanogenmod and the Bloatware 4.4.2 that comes on my Galaxy S5 is that I can't seem to lock the "desktop/widgets". It's hard to grab the right words here but I don't want to lock the screen such as putting it into the secure mode, I want to keep my shortcuts and widgets from moving around or accidentally being drug to another screen or to the garbage can. Some tutorials say "go to settings>>security>>Enable Widgets" but that option isn't even available to me in the security settings so stuff gets moved around sometimes and it can be frustrating.

I went to the Wallpaper option and placed a picture of my dog on the Lock Screen. I have not yet seen it appear there. The options are there but they do not work.

Yes and no. I believe 4.4 has it disable on default, but you can get into Settings > Security to check Enable Widget. Then you'll have the same options as 4.3. I've seen it done on a Nexus 5 that's on 4.4 on YouTube. However, I don't have the same option on my s5.

I changed my lock screen wallpaper to a live wallpaper, and now it shows a lock symbol with an expanding circle as you pull your finger away from where you first touch the screen.

You can still install lockscreen apps that are not lockscreen widgets. Widgetlocker works just fine if you like using that. It's a lockscreen replacement, not a widget.

I'm having trouble because I want to try Dashclock out instead. And Dashclock is a widget.

Anyone know a way to fix this?

On the lock screen, the camera has an icon in the lower left corner. swipe the icon up.

Hi Bassplayrguy,
Thanks for the reply - I have only just realised there was a reply!

No icon on my home screen - Apparently the Australian Telstra Firmware build for the S5 doesn't include any option to have the camera widget on lock screen!
Oh well!
Thanks for the reply though!

Omg no widget on lock screen. Horrible.... I wanted to use dash clock.

Try Clocker pro for lock screen functionality. It is the best I have found as a work around.
