Locked out of samsung galaxy s6

My samsung galaxy s6 did an update last week. After the update I was asked to join dots to form a pattern to protect my finger print and also add a pin number. Since then when I turn my phone on it asks for the pattern but it won't accept the one I enter so I have to wait 30 seconds then I can enter the pin number to gain access. Today i am unable to open phone at all and first a notice came up saying wait 30 minutes and now it's saying 60 minutes wait and try again. Can anyone advise me what's happening please? I need to make some calls. So frustrating. Thank you.

Hello!
I would try logging into your Google Account on a PC and then go to Android Device Manager (https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager). From there you can setup a new password and GPS/Locate your device.
