They can't be different from the ones on the dock. Keep in mind you can create folders on the dock as well so that might help you.

I'm surprised that they went this route. I may have to set up the dock with the apps I want to use on the lock screen, and use a 3rd party launcher. I'm disappointed that HTC doesn't allow us to fully customize the lock screen apps, like I could with my Evo 3D.

I'm going to be using WidgetLocker, just haven't set it up yet...

Go to settings, personalize, shortcut, settings shortcut, display.
Now, organize the icons at the bottom the way you want them to show up.
