Login Error in the Facebook App

I'm one of what I'm sure will be hoards showing up from PreCentral after the HP debacle. I finally came to my senses and bailed on the Pre, and choose the Thunderbolt. To say it's been a happy upgrade is an understatement. So far I'm loving the phone, with one minor exception. I've been completely unable to login to the Facebook app. I can log in to the mobile web version just fine. To make the situation clearer, I'm using the android Facebook app, I get the error: " An error occurred during signin, please try again later". So far I have cleared the data from both the app, and the sense module, and rebooted with the same result. I've done the same thing and uninstalled the re-installed the app, with the same result.
Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have "Login Approval" set up on your Facebook account?

You can finding by logging into the website and going to Account -> Account Settings -> Security -> Login Approval

Make sure that is disabled.

Nope, Login Approval is set to off, so that's not it. For what it's worth, I was able to login just fine from my Pre before, and there have been no changes to the account since.

I had that problem once. I logged in to Facebooks site from my phones browser and then logged into the app and the problem went away. Keep trying to log in and out of the browser and the app until it works.

Try clearing the cache/data for the app.. or better yet uninstall it. Log into FB on the browser and then reinstall the app. This happened to me months ago and I don't remember the exact steps but basically a combo of deleting/installing the app and logging in/out from the browser fixed it for me.

So problem solved. I ended up putting my phone number in as the user name instead of email address & that worked.
