Lolli for T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

Got it in Seattle this morning. First thing noticed is there isn't any way to turn GPS off or on. Also, new icon in notification bar. Looks like an capital N. Power Dash Board widget have used is gone. New one is different, also missing the GPS on/off.

I still have a toggle for GPS and the N icon is the NFC icon which was present even on Jelly Bean for some devices. For the power widget, I don't really use it since quick settings are much easier to use

So now with lollipop, does it not show any notifications in the bar when the screen is locked and you can only see notifications on top of the screen if you allow?

after the install I got the same Google Play Error but it then went away after about 10mins thus allowing me to update my apps. Anyone notice there is no longer that line bar down at the bottom or top of the screen. I just wish HTC would have changed the on-screen back button and home buttons like LG G3 did with their update.

So I still haven't received the update yet. Is it still rolling out? I have an m8 originally from at&t that was unlocked and brought to T-Mobile. Would that have anything to do with it or am I just being impatient?

My update went really smooth. I did notice it takes quite a bit longer to charge, but my battery is lasting a lot longer.

I did a factory reset finally. I have my smart lock and the Google Play services update notification hasn't happened in a while. Will keep an eye out for it though.

You gotta wait til at&a roll out the update cause your HTC originally from at&a not t mobile all you did was unlock it

Gotcha. I tasled a T-Mobile employee the same thing. They said I would get it through tmobile. Weird.

Just to warn you guys that my m8 has been horrific since the update a couple of days ago. It is slow, unresponsive and now...downright annoying.
The battery is draining so quickly now that I spend most of the day with it connected to a charging cable which is a pain in the backside to say the least. But the worst, the very worst aspect of this update is what it's done to the app's and their performance. Without exception every image or data heavy app is rendered virtually useless if I am connected to the web. The only and I mean the only way that I can wring any sort of performance approaching pre update levels is buy using my 'award winning smartphone' in flight mode in extreme battery saver mode.

This kind of defeats the object of owning a smartphone somewhat.

Be careful what you wish for.

Oh and good luck...!

Talked to Tech Support. Turns out the update renamed some things and moved them around. The GPS settings are in the Location settings, under Mode. The default is GPS always on, then Wi-Fi and GPS, then Cell Network, Wi-Fi, GPS.

Got my update last night. Can confirm it's 5.0.1. Also no problems on my phone during or after the update and it seems to be running faster than it used to.

Just had the update pop up for me in California (Stockton/Modesto area). Installing now and will report back with any issues.

I had the same issue, tried everything didnt work tho. And then i uninstalled Facebook and its message app since its battery drain was 86% and im all right now. Hope it helps.

If you're having major issues, do a factory reset. Frankly, that should be done anytime there is a major OS update on any platform (not just Android). In Android's case, that means whenever the dessert name changes. This is especially true for this update when you consider that the framework that apps run on has been completely overhauled (from Dalvik to ART).

Does it suck? Sure. But that's the reality.

I just tried to update my M8. Got an error that the downloaded update was corrupt and to retry. Retried, update started. Says it's optimizing apps. Now I have about 100 pop ups repeatedly saying UI has stopped working, demo stub has stopped working, various apps have stopped working, and they pop up as fast as I can hit close or OK. I tried to restart my phone, it went right back into it. How do I even get to anything to do a factory reset? This is crap!

EDIT: After getting angry and just leaving the phone sit for about 20 minutes, it buzzed and prompted me for my SIM PIN, so we'll see how this goes. I'm not amused.

Just in case like me you were wondering where quick settings went (since the gear icon now takes you straight to settings), just tap the taskbar after you drop it down. That's annoying. I usually love change, this time, not so much.
