Lollipop 5.0.2

This morning I was re-booting my N7 2012 for the umpteenth time as I have done for the last week or so since 5.02. wrecked it.
I was running AVG antivirusand I just wondered if that was causing problems.
I uninstalled it and d/loaded Avast about 9 hours ago and voila all has been back to normal. No lags, battery has hardly dropped..
I might be speaking too soon, but if you have AVG try getting rid of it as it could be incompatible with 5.02.
Will keep you posted.

I've been running Avast since I got my 2012 Nexus 7, and never have had any issues that I thought were caused by Avast. See my post just above yours... Avast before 5.0.2, during, and on the replacement tablet.
One thing I can suggest in general though, is to wipe the partition cache if/when things start to unfold. It isn't a guaranteed fix, but it often improves things quite well with respect to lagging and crashing apps.

Not long after I posted this, my Nexus 7 -2012 was updated OTA to 5.0.2 (it skipped 5 and 5.0.1) It became totally unusable almost immediately. Tremendous lag, and tremendous battery drain (it drained quickly during use, and even drained slowly during charging!!) Google support had me try a couple things, then replaced the tablet. New one immediately upgraded OTA to 5.0.2, and has been much better. Only real problem now is google chrome browser lags badly and crashed often.
They replaced a two-year-old tablet because of lag issues?

I'm skeptical.

I'm skeptical.
The tremendous lag made it effectively unusable, but the battery drain even during charging is what I suspect triggered the replacement. What I learned is not necessarily to jump at Android upgrades...

got the OTA update (5.0.2 from 4.4.4), 3 days ago - same lag and battery issues as everyone - did a factory reset and now it's all going quickly and smoothly.

I have just noticed that Google have kindly removed the 'Gallery' app. They now want you to join G+ to access it.
There is a 'Gallery KK' app in Play Store that does the same job if anyone is interested.
At the moment it is the first one on the page when searching Play Store.

On my 2012 N7, 5.0 was terrible. 5.0.2 was only slightly better. I've done 2 factory resets after taking 5.0.2 but am still getting periodic freezes, mainly when using Chrome, but periodically while using other apps as well. I found a good deal on the 2013 N7 over a month ago on Groupon. 5.0.2 is available to me on it, but I'm staying with KitKat 4.4.4 for now. Hoping rumored 5.1 will be released soon with better stability.

Mine is terrible after the update too. I only have 7 gig of space used with over 20 gig available. It freezes and sometimes I can't even get it off the lock screen. I keep it cleaned up and have turned it on and off- which helps for a bit. Then it goes back to freezing and lagging. Before the update, I did the cache partition cleaning and that helped a lot. Don't know what to do now

Its been a week now since I did the factory reset, having done the cache clear before. Its working pretty well, apart from most of the Google Apps. Chrome is bad, slow and sometimes locks. GMail is slow but seems stable. Maps takes an age, and the old trick of OK Maps to save a map section doesn't work. Just get Area Unavailable message, and only option is to cancel.
Dolfin browser is better than Chrome but lacks stability, certainly on FB when on desktop site.

I am very tempted to go back to 4.2 which was fast and good, but the apps to load would be the same as I've just loaded for 5.0.2 wouldn't they? Has anyone tried going back, and is the that the interface between app and OS is just crap on 5.0.2?
