Lollipop OTA

Don't be too excited. I got it on my Nexus 5 yesterday and there are a lot of annoying things about it. I am enjoying perhaps the last few days left I have of KitKat on the N10...

Sorry but I like it so far. I side loaded my nexus 7 last week.

Initial impressions here are only lukewarm so far. I'm not a fan of the single notification bar, I can say that so far. Might be great on a phone, but not so much on a tablet. The brightness control is very stuttery.

Got it this morning. Sad to see that they have not taken into account the larger screen of the 10. Many things are completely stretched which makes it obvious.

I noticed the screen on my nexus 10 is twice as bright. I had to turn brightness all the way down where as before I would usually have it just under half. Even on auto brightness it is so bright it actually hurts my eyes. I didnt notice this on my nexus 7 so I believe its device related.

Get very excited. No bugs I have seen and it works great. Battery life has got better also. Best update so far. It's like a whole new tablet.

On my Nexus 5, it didn't improve battery at all, I notice no speed change, the new icons are much worse, the white backgrounds on menus is irritating and can't be changed, the keyboard and recently used apps is not really better (just different), they still have not figured out how to alphabetize menu entries, and the battery usage detail is now less useful.

The only thing I found I definitely liked is that they FINALLY added the ability to control the brightness while in Auto mode. I have wanted that for YEARS. It was totally stupid that before it could be auto, which was ALWAYS too bright, or manual, which was a pain to constantly adjust. Now it appears we have a bias setting while in Auto, which is great.

Now, I have only had the update for a day, so there are certainly some additional positives (and/or negatives) hanging around I haven't seen yet.

Mine downloaded yesterday. It took about 30 minutes to download, install, and update the apps. My Google calendar won't load up this morning. Bummer because our master calandar is sync'd to our pc's and nexus 4's, and N10's. I see the calendar is updated on my pc though. When I try to load it on the N10, the icon shows on the screen and there's 1 dot on the progress bar, but that's it

Lot's of things are quite different in the gmail app, too. I can no longer swipe delete emails from the left column. Now you have to open the email and hit the garbage can icon.

Oops! Apparently you have to watch an update info blurb before the calendar app will open. I just didn't notice the little arrow in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

I am having wifi issues on my N10, it connects fine but it randomly drops the connection and takes about 3 minutes to get it back. Very frustrating!

I got Lollipop on my Nexus 10 about an hour ago. Installed just fine. I plan to do a Factory Reset tonight before I start putting apps back on. Is there any difference, doing a Factory Reset via the Settings menu vs Recovery Mode? I want all data wiped off as I have already backed everything up. Just want to get the cleanest install of Lollipop possible.

I couldn't get recovery mode to work with lollipop. I got the screen to come up but that was it.

Got my update Monday night this week. Didn't do anything except install it. It updated 176 apps and then boom, lollypop! My N10 has never been faster or more stable. Took me about 2 days to adjust to the new lollypop layout. One of my my favorite parts is the new lock screen with all your notifications. It's very similar to what I've had for a year on my Moto X. I also like the card based recent section. With multiple browser tabs open you can go right back to the one you want. My battery life seems better. WiFi is stable. No drops since the update, much improved! Can't wait to get it on my Moto X now.

I have a Nexus 10 and use the Nook reader a lot. My hubby got the Nexus 9 with 5.0 installed and apparently the Nook Reader does not work on 5.0. So I have not installed it. No notes on the B/N site about this. Any ideas?

I imagine there is going to be a delay while some apps have to be updated to run on 5.0.

Did anyone in the Chicago area get the OTA update yet? My Nexus 10 still hasn't gotten it yet.

Received the update yesterday, installed with no problem. Noticeably faster!

I think all of you reporting this just needed to clear your cache partition or something on the previous version (or maybe there was something hung up that got fixed). The N10 is absolutely no faster for me after the update. It is exactly the same very fast speed it was before the update. Same thing on my N5.

I was cleaning cache very regularly in an effort to stave off the reboots and freezes. I have not had one since, and my 10 is decidedly snappier post-update.

I guess what I was trying to say (but not very well) is that simply upgrading is what fixed your problem, probably not the OS version itself. Lollipop on the N10 is no faster than KitKat (not that I nor many others can tell)... they are both "fast".... unless you were having some unusual problem before because something was "broken".
