Lollipop phone is not writing images/videos on SD card ?

Hi,
I recently purchased lollipop phone .this phone is not writing images/videos on SD card but writing on phone storage.
--I thought there might be issue with SD card so i tried deleting files from SD card ,it is working.
--Then i connected USB cable and tried to write files from my window laptop.It is working fine.
--Camera photos are going to SD card.So i assume there is no issue with SD card else camera will not be able to write images to SD card.
--i read that it is due to way the application's developers develop application and you need root access to solve this issue .Root access voids warranty (which i really don't want) This issue is from kitkat and above versions.Not sure whether it is true.
--i am mainly using gmail,watsapp,FB but all images and videos are storing in phone storage which has less space.I am unable to move app/app data to SD card.

Please help me to allow phone to write files(images+videos) to SD card rather than phone storage without using root???
