Lollipop update failed

Installed part earlier to day. Now I'm trying to install part 2 of the update. It downloads fine, boots into the recovery and starts to update. Blue bar moves along and then I get an error. Phone reboots and it says failed.

Suggestions?

Are you rooted and if so do you have any apps frozen or possibly uninstalled that had come with the device?

I am having the exact same problem. My S4 is not rooted and I did try a factory reset. I wish the update would show up in Kies to try the update from there.

Same issue with mine. .. download finishes and errors out during the install.

I got my install to work but it took quite a bit of doing. I ended up having to use ODIN to flash my phone with 4.4.2 NG6. I had forgotten that I had rooted my phone some time ago but had lost it in subsequent updates. Once you are back to NG6 take all updates (one takes you to FNK1, the next to FNK4 and the last one to Lollipop). This should work with no problems. If you need help with flashing NG6 there are tons of TUTs out there. Be sure to back up anything not saved on an SD. Hope this helps.

Well, dang... I'm running 4.4.2 FNK4 already but this Lollipop install keeps failing.

Is it really necessary or are there really any benefits to doing a factory reset either before or after the update?
