Lollipop update

Well it's official. AT&T Locker is my official troublemaker related to Lollipop. It's overheating my phone and my battery went from 100% to 83% in about an hour while it sat on my office desk unused. The app freezes when I try to open it and today I finally had to disable it.

It was a great app up until Lollipop. I have a ton of pics backed up to it (have the 50GB plan) but I'm not willing to lock up my phone and mess it up because of this stupid thing. Come on AT&T get with the program and update the app to work correctly with Lollipop!!

Is there another way to update?

I'm not getting the update notification and it still says I'm up to date.

I made this account just for you buddy. I also have an unlocked ATT G2 running on cricket and could not get the update. I went to ATT store and purchased a 10 dollar (lowest i could put on it lol) pre paid sim card, went into settings to check for update and bam first try i got lollipop. Ive also heard of people using a straight talk sim card that got the update, but i cannot confirm this and LG even told me on twitter i NEED ATT sim card.

Was worth the 10 bucks to me, loving lollipop so far. Only things that are a bit odd to me are missing brightness slider (but there is a still a toggle that has full half auto and custom brightness settings), the lockscreen notifications dont work like stock lollipop which is annoying you cant just tap them once to go to them you need to tap and then swipe to unlock phone, hide home buttons didnt make it into ATT lollipop version but they did on verizon and international models. Overall i like lollipop and would it again, look and feel of it is a nice change and really freshens up the G2.

Really? I dont know what to say man, like i said i purchased a pre paid sim for 10 bucks and when i got home i did the software check and it popped up first try. Is it saying your device is currently up to date? I know some people get the "this phone isnt registered" and thats a different issue. You were on wifi when you checked right? Also if you want to check more often than 24 hours just set your time ahead a full day and you can keep checking it, just need to uncheck the boxes that get time and date from servers.

Yeah, unfortunately all of the above.

It says I am already up to date, checked on and off WiFi, unactive and active att sims, set date ahead.. Haha

Guess I will have to be cool with Kit Kat.

It downloaded but apparently my phone has been rooted.. Not by me, that's for sure. But got it off eBay...

Still cant install.

Wow that sucks, i got mine off ebay as well it was new in ATT packaging, was yours? Paid 209 for mine, but now they are 189.00. I know you need kit kat ending with a y(latest version) to update to lollipop, which mine came with. Maybe you need to update to that version of kit kat first?

Follow these instructions step by step and it will but you back on stock kit kat and remove the root flag. Then your device will install the update.

I needed up having to do a clean install of factory software.. Wasn't too hard.

Now I'm on Lollipop.

Battery life is not good on mine. I may do a factory reset and see if that helps, having many issues since the update.

thanx for the help i have unlocked att g2 on cricket. so ichanged the date ahead and boom immedialey found update and is downloading over wifi to what i assume is lollipop. i have been searching online for over a month on how to upgrade, heres what i did. bought this sim card

its seven bucks free shipping. . activated sim card by following instructions on packaging. turned on wifi, checked for updates , it said i had to wait 23 hrs. so i went into fone settings moved the date one day ahead and checked for updates and it immediately found update over wifi , its downloading now . i did not pay add any money into the sim card account so if you can get a cheaper sim card from att turn on wifi and you should be good to go hope this helps
