Lollipop upgrade and now gmail not automatically syncing

Hi All,

I recently upgraded my lollipop and now my gmail is not automatically syncing even though I have the sync settings on. Anyone else having this issue?

Notes: sync gmail is on, google account has gmail checked

No problems with syncing for my Gmail after the update, but I've heard that some apps needed to be unistalled then reinstalled to work properly.
