Anybody have AT&T on Long Island? I'm curious what the average data speeds are.

I'm thinking about making the switch from Sprint to AT&T for the Galaxy Note.

Sprint data is literally unusable on Long Island. My last 5 speed tests with Sprint:

0.04 Mbps
0.42 Mbps
0.08 Mbps
0.09 Mbps
0.42 Mbps

I'm paying $90 a month for that? I can't even stream a low quality Youtube video, it's TERRIBLE.

Depends where on the island you are. I am in Melville, and commute to Valley Stream. I have Verizon with no issues. Had AT&T, but dropped calls. My sister in law is further north (Woodbury). I have no reception at her house, but AT&T works beautifully. Smithtown (further east but also north) works fine for both carriers.

To be honest, you shouldn't have problems withe either major carrier here. VZW does not have 4G everywhere, so just ask to see coverage maps.

Where on island are you?

LI is slated for Sprint Network Vision to be complete by the end of the year with the entire island covered in 4G. Just letting you know.

AT&T at its worst is faster than Sprint at its best. My slowest has been about 1.1mbps down. Fastest was 5. Depends on ROM but it's all on an HDPA Captivate, not LTE.

I'm not on LI but my Sprint speeds were the same as yours, and I just travelled extensively with the Captivate.

I'm in Seaford. I just want data fast enough to stream video, even during peak hours.

VZW has the 4G LTE advantage (in Nassau at least), but that Note is tempting me. If AT&T is fast enough, then why not?

I'd be paying a $350 ETF to get off of Sprint. Absolutely absurd, but I say it's better to pay that than $90 a month for an unusable service.

AT&T is fast enough. As long as the map shows you have coverage and it's not EDGE, you'll be solid.

Sadly, even EDGE is faster than Sprint at times, but it won't pull down a video.
