So when I send text messages to my girlfriends phone that would split into two or more messages it sends them as a bunch of random characters. I know I have seen this in a thread before so after some searching I did find this thread:

http://forum.androidcentral.com/verizon-fascinate-rooting-roms-hacks/63820-text-issues-eb01-eb16-sc-2-6-a.html

I followed the link over to XDA and installed the mms.apk into my system files and everything installed just fine but it is still sending the random characters. Any ideas? Worst comes to worst I guess this will force me to install a new superclean rom:) I was just hanging on to the EB01 voodoo deodexed/debloated since I have had good battery life and I don't want that to become an issue.

Here is a small portion of what it sends and what is weird is when I send it back to my phone it breaks it up into 3 different messages when its only a little over one.

Sorry, but this is the first I have heard of the sms to mms apks from xda not working. As long as you followed the instructions and replaced the current one everything should be fine. I wish I could be of more help.

I noticed this problem with my phone as well. Same issue I was sending texts to my gf and as long as they where 160 chr or less it was fine, as soon as I went over that and it was converted it would send a bunch of gibberish. She was using a blackberry. (I fixed the problem by getting her a Fascinate... now i have two phones to play with and cant get into trouble for spending to much time on my phone... cuz I am doing it for her *evil laugh*).

On a side note I have no problems texting my buddy long messages and he is using sprint non Droid.

Know this doesn't help your problem but maybe someone reading this may be able to explain why from my info.

Yeah actually my girlfriend has a blackberry as well so maybe that has something to do with it. I also wonder if it maybe has something to do with her being on Alltel and the approaching transition in our area to At&t as I have heard reports of some pretty screwing things happening.

But I guess I haven't had any issues sending to other people so for the time being only a minor inconvenience.

It happened to mine as well, not only to blackberry but to regular cell phones as well. I uninstalled all market text programs and reflashed a newer rom. Seemed to fix the problem so far.

Oh oh oh I can fix this one!

What text messaging app are you using? Stock? Handscent? w/e

You need to go into it's settings and tell it to split long sms messages into multiple parts, otherwise it tries to send it as one long sms message which isn't supported and it comes out as garbage.

I had the same problem too. I' am currently using Handcent and the did the following

settings>send msg settings> slit 160> simple split and add counter

I prefer using Go SMS Pro but I cant seem to figure out the setting on the app:confused:
