Long Time To Charge?

I woke up this morning and the battery was dead. I put it on the charger at 6:30 and it finished at 11:00.

Last night I fell asleep around 245 and woke up at 1045 with 63 percent, I remember it at 87 percent when I went to bed. What the hell is it doing at night lol??!

Beats me. The Vibrant did the same thing, and I never even put a SIM card in it or had the phones radio turned on. At least they have the battery only charger/spare battery accessory pack available already.

Samsung told on themselves when they released additional batteries for this device on launch. I looked down at one and kind of shrugged it off but I see that I am going to probably need one.

It's not just the Epic btw. All of the Galaxy S phones I've played with have taken several hours to charge.

Its not just the Samsungs either My EVO also took hours to charge. I think what has happened now is because of the recent exploding Lithium battery debacle its been determined that these battery's need to be charged slower so they don't over heat and explode and or catch on fire like some have done in the past. So now I think the makers have reduced the charging rates to keep the batteries cooler when charging hence now it takes forever to charge them.

Will I be able to plug the USB cord into any charger that has an USB output? I have a Belkin cigarette charger for my ipod touch, it outputs the same voltage but 0.5A instead of 0.7A that the Samsung wall charger outputs.

It will work, but it will charge at a much slower rate, and if you use navigation the charger probably won't output enough power to keep up. I would opt for something at least equal to the stock charger or better yet a 1A charger like this one.

Yup. I just bought two of tose. Haven't tested them out too much yet, but they seem to be able to do the job.

yeah i agree. i will most likely buy one before i start school in a few weeks. i'm going to be there all day

It will be interesting to see if 3rd party batteries take this long. The battery takes forever to charge in the BOC also.

What if we use 2.1 Amp charger to charge the phone. I think it will charge it much quicker.
