Look over your new HTC One before you leave the store.....

Oh wait... I thought this thread was about the HTC ONE-
and it's unfortunate that you had to give up your much preferred DNA and settle for an S4....

You are right, at first I did feel like I settled, but in the long run it looks like I settled for a superior trouble free phone. I cant't say that about my last two (or should I say six) HTC phones.

Yeahp I am comparing the HTC One to the S4. I find the S4's build quality higher. In the HTC One you have 4 pieces of Al sandwiching an off-white piece of plastic and on the front the PLASTIC that holds the glass does not run as seamlessly into the 2 top pieces of aluminum. The tolerances could jave been better and the power and volume button appeared loose and uneven. I like AL a lot too but I prefer the build quality (not material quality) of the S4.

Your joking right? The S4s build quality is far FAR BELOW standards compared to the One.

Let's remember that build QUALITY does not equal build MATERIALS.
While the ones build material may seem more premium that the s4s, they both offer their own pros and cons. That being said, lemons can be found in any lot.

Let's keep this conversation civil. I thought the s4 and HTC one debacle had ended some time back.

I don't know why people are mentioning the S4 so much, it's a plastic phone, it honestly doesn't even deserve being talked about in the HTC One section, lol.

I don't think build quality doesn't include materials, because when you mention the "quality" of something you are usually also talking about what it's made of. I believe the HTC One's build quality is incomparable to the S4's, and only someone who is blind or maybe has lost there sense of touch would say the S4 is better :D

I know you read my post, because you just quoted it. So tell me then, why did you just insult anyone who thinks the s4 has better build quality than the one? Putting an ":D" after it doesn't make it any less of an insult. And I literally just asked to keep it civil.

Also, there is a very big difference between build quality and build material. I can have a gold diamond ring, but if it hasn't been refined and finished, and instead has jagged edges, gaping details, and the diamonds are set haphazardly, what makes it any better than a sterling silver ring with exquisite details, a spotless finish, and secure, intricately set sparkling cubic zirconia? The build materials may be superior to the silver ring, yes, but the build quality, no. Quality /=/ build material.

I'm sorry to argue with you.... I really am. I know you're a moderator and all, but I think we have a different definition of quality however, and you also have shared your opinion, so I think I'm also justified to share mine.

I like to define quality as a characteristic or attribute that something possesses measured by it's excellence in comparison to something else that's similar; a phone to a phone. (this is also the actual definition of.. quality).

Build materials are characteristics.

Thanks for this advice. I ordered my blackberry online last year and am ordering my htc one online.

I apologize, I know my opinion is unpopular amongst HTC One owners and should have, perhaps, kept it to myself.

It's just the reason I sold my S4 and that's why I stand behind it so much. :D

There is no issue with you expressing your opinion, whether I am a moderator or not. I can respect your opinion. What I did not appreciate was the blanket insult in your response to my warning. Everything is fine, though.

All...these are just phones...gadgets. Let's not give them more importance than they deserve.

I think it's more or less the terminology. Samsung has better assembling quality, while HTC decided to use (in your eyes) better material quality. Not agreeing or disagreeing just pointing out where it seems the debate is stemming from.

Yeah and why not have the best of both worlds with a One that has been built and smoothened properly? Rather than playing it safe with a phone that's worse.

I think you missed the point of my post. I am not saying one or the other is better, nor is this thread going to continue on in that pattern

I see what you did there Jennifer ;)

Also I agree, I prefer the One but I know to others they might think of the S4 as a better phone. It's all pros and cons for everyone, I don't think there is an exact answer and you're right about that it's just a never ending argument.

I have a perfect aluminum spherical indent from the top to the bottom on the back side to the right of the HTC Logo and camera. It's ever so light. Anyone else notice this? I've tried taking a picture, but it's nearly impossible to catch. I saw the way they the HTC Ones are made, and it's from the cylinder that pollishes the back aluminum, but it pollished it too close, and left an indent about the width of a pencil all up and down. I hope I'm not the only one who has this issue. My phone is perfect other than that. Would make it easier to pick out from the crowd of if I lost it. I don't really feel like taking it back, and possibly getting a HTC One with a hard to press power button.

I may have noticed this to, it's where the phone curves right? About halfway from the edge of the phone to the HTC logo?

When you pay this much for a phone with so many great features, its a shame things like build quality can let it down.
