I am looking to upgrade to the S3. I have comparing the S3 to the EVO 4G and LG Optimus and I am favoring the S3 on specs. I am not looking to spend a ton of money on a phone due to a tight budget. Thank you all for any feedback.

The S3 is a solid device. It should see some more support for updates for about another year. As it is very popular, if this is any interest, finding ROMs will be easy, and guides are plentiful. I say go for it, as I am very happy with mine.

Thank you Golf, I read a few posts down the S3 may get an update bringing some of the S4'S features to it. Supposed to be in June according to Sammobile but I am already used to Sammy's slow route to delivering updates to devices.

How about a Nexus 4? Fast and updates and super affordable

I'm very happy with the S3. I recently looked at the S4 and HTC One, and didn't think either of them offered enough improvements to make them worth the additional money compared to an S3.

Given the the OP is posting in the Sprint forum, I don't think the Nexus 4 is an option for him. Even so, I prefer the extra features of the S3 over the Nexus. Unless you must always have the latest version of Android, I don't find it a compelling choice. I like the extra features Samsung packed into the S3. Somewhere I heard the S3 on Sprint is now going for $50. At that price, I think it's a no-brainer.

Even if the S3 never gets Android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie), it will continue to do everything it does today. If it meets your needs now, odds are it will meet your needs for a couple of years.

June will be for the international version of the phone. US versions will be later. Samsung is actually better than most at providing updates to it's phones. They're still updating the S2, and it's a year older than the S3. And Sprint is faster than any of the other carriers at rolling out Samsung's updates to its users.

Yep samsung provides updates for their flagship phones up to 18 months after their I itial release. That's more than any other manufacturer and samsung guarantees it.

Thanks everyone for the responses. At this point in time I am pretty sure I will be upgrading to the S3, accessories and extra batteries are dirt cheap on Amazon plus it supports a 64gb microsd card. I have been reading other posts on the AC forums and I see the phone has its fair share of issues like any other phone but overall I feel it will perfectly meet my needs.

Although if you can get the htc one at around $100 or less that's another great option. But if you can get the s3 for free that's good too. I just switched my wife from an iPhone 4 to a used s3 and only paid $125.

Sprint only offers the $100 off if you bring your own number from a different carrier. The offer isn't valid for anyone who is already on sprint and I'd just upgrading.

I've done a few comparisons of the S3 vs S4. I was going to buy the S4 for my business line. Honestly, there isn't really much difference unless you want all the eye tracking and hand gesture stuff, which I don't. The S3 has a few similar things and I turn them all off anyhow.

The S3 will almost for sure see the next upgrade in Android. There is a lot of horsepower there.
