I know I have posted a similar request already, but I still seem to be having the same problem.

When I connect my Xoom to my PC it is not recognized.

I first had this problem with my Win7 machine, but when I connect to my wife's XP machine it works fine. I tried installing the Motorola drivers and have even looked at other USB drivers and installed the latest Win7 service pack, but no joy.

I finallyave up and decided to use my laptop so that I coould instal the SDK and root my Android. Well, now I have the same problem with my laptop. After installing the drivers, I get a beep when I plug in the Xoom so it is at least recognizing that it is plugged in, but no drive or device appears.

Anybody have any idea how to solve this problem?

You need the Motorola drivers AND the umdf drivers that come with WMP 11 or can be installed separately to provide the MTP protocol the Xoom uses for file transfer in XP. I don't know what the equivalent is in Win 7.

I have installed all of the latest windows updates, I would I've thought that would give me the latest drivers. Where can I get the UMDF drivers separately?

With win 7 you have them already. The only thing I can think might be do you use any other device that syncs on your desktop or laptop? All so did you install any other programs on your laptop between the first time and last time you tried sync your Xoom?

I never tried it on my laptop before, only my wife's computer and my win7 computer. I assumed that since it worked on my wife's XP computer, it would work on my XP laptop.

I do have an iPod touch that syncs with my win7 PC.

Question you do go to my computer and look at devices. It is at the bottom of my screen in its own section the icon looks like an mp3 player. It is not listed were a removable drive would be listed. You might want to check and see if windows media player is seeing it as well. I am wondering if media player is trying to sync with it and not letting it mount. Let me take a look at a few other things...

Yea, I'm not a noob on PC's, actually pretty competent. This ones strange and the fact that I have it on two PC's makes it frustrating. I was hoping someone else had seen this and could explain it.

Looking at Device Manager, when I plug in the zoom a yellow questionmark comes up with "other devices". Under that is another questionmark with MTP. The system makes an attempt to install a driver but says it can't find one.

With it connected and loaded go into settings on your tablet and cycle the usb debugging off and on. I am guessing you run with it enabled but if not just cycle it on and the wizard should pop up and finish your driver install on all devices.

Thanks for the help! You were spot on. I do run with debug mode on; based on the discription I thought I needed to check the box. When I removed the check, my laptop beeped and the Xoom device Pope's up on My Computer. When I check it back it goes away; curious.

I didn't have the same results on my Win7 machine, but at least I know the Zoom USB port works. I was preparing to take it back today.

Thanks again!!!

What if you remove the nonfunctioning Xoom on the device manager and reload the Xoom USB driver?
