As you can tell I am new here and I am looking into trading my iPhone 4s for a One X. I just want to know from a users point of view how they like the phone. I dipped into Android around 2.1 and the software and hardware (Samsung Moment) left a bad taste in my mouth. I eventually moved to an iPhone and have been with it since. But I am constantly left feeling helpless with my phone since I can't customize anything on it.

So I am looking for opinions and some different points of view.

Thanks.

well, simply put, I came from an iPhone - I was bored out of my mind with it, and went with the HOX. Haven't looked back, ICS is great and Jelly Bean looks even better. You've already seen what iOS is bringing to the table with version 6 and now you know what Android is bringing with Jelly Bean. Even if the next iPhone is a marvel of hardware design it will still be running iOS, which is a great OS, just boring and (basically) the same it's been for a looong time.

Thanks Lucid for your reply. It was very helpful. The other thing I am kind of worried about is if the phone I get has a problem does the manufacturer warranty transfer owners? I have found different answers around the web.

I?ve used all the different OSes out there in the past year. I?ve always come back to iPhone. I had a Nexus One for about 6 months and really liked it but the apps were both bad and ugly when compared to iPhone apps, in my opinion. I currently have an iPhone 4S but just got a One X last week. I really like it. Android has come a long way since the 2.x days. ICS is beautiful, but even though a lot is hidden by Sense 4.0 its presence is still felt. Anyway, I was getting bored with my iPhone so I jailbroke it. That gave me a ?new phone? feel for a while and added some nice functionality and customization but I was still bored after a month. The One X is really a great phone. Great build quality. The screen is fantastic. Being Android you can install new keyboards (I LOVE SwiftKey 3, it?s incredible at predicting what I?m going to type next) and other customizations. I use GO SMS Pro and love the quick reply window for texts. You don?t have to leave whatever app you?re in to reply. You can install custom launchers which basically give you your stock ICS feel. Lots of people like Apex Launcher. I like it too but still prefer HTC Sense for its widgets. Plenty of replacement widgets are available though so you can customize til your heart?s content. All the apps I use on iPhone are available on Android (except CVS for some reason). It?s a great system and Jelly Bean is only going to make it better. You won?t be sorry if you pick one up.

One thing to be aware of its batt life, you will get around 3.5 hours of screen on time with the one x. Both the 4s and Samsung s3 get between 5 and 6.

Also, the one x is different in the USA to the international version and one of the main reasons for buying the one x is for games on tegra 3, this is not present on the us version. So it might be worth hanging on for a bit until lte and quad core work together.

I'm not trying to put you off, just warning you that android devices are not as straightforward as iPhones.

Good on you, mate!... I never owned an iPhone, but I have used an iPod 4 Touch extensively and that allowed me to understand iOS, the Apple Store, iTunes, etc. I think a lot of people get too caught up with the device, as if it was the only thing, but I think looking at the wider picture and actually using a device/OS for a long enough time that you actually get to understand its limitations is crucial to understanding which one is the best. Also, as far as Android is concerned, I feel the slow ICS adoption rate makes lots of people assume Android is Gingerbread and Android Market, but things have improved dramatically really quick!

In my opinion, in a comparison between Android and iOS (might as well throw WP in), there is no contest. From its philosophy as an open OS that will not force me to choose whatever Apple or MS wish (I would HATE to be an iOS user when Google Maps disappear after iOS6), all the way to its flexibility, customizability, etc., Android is king.

First off, I am mostly a Google services user, so Android is a clear first choice because of its significantly superior support of Google Apps. On top of that, using a platform that may randomly or purposely decide to stop supporting those Google services, be it totally or partially (say Apple), is not good enough for me. That is the most important thing in my opinion and I am always amazed at how many people will buy a device as if it was a standalone thing. The way I see it, a smartphone is essentially a media/information/data consumption interface that gets most of its functionality from online services, so tight integration is critical. As such, if I was to recommend a device to a friend of mine who was heaviliy using MS services, I would recomment a WP device, not Android. Having said so, even if I consider services integration the most important criteria, I still think there are many other important arguments defining Android as the winning option. To name just a few:

- I love how I can use Google Play on any PC/browser, synch over the air without having to be using my PC/Mac, not even my Home Wifi connection. With the latest changes, all software management can be done from Google Play without having to pull my phone from my pocket... Any user who's suffered the burden of using iTunes and having to connect via cable time and again should find this the most awesome invention since sliced bread.

- I love having the ability to use apps like Swiftkey, PlayerPro or AirDroid, to name a few, which to me are game changers.

- I love having the ability to download an application like VLC knowing that Google will not kick it off of Google Play. This also applied to Adobe Flash as long as Adobe was willing to support it.

- I love the awesome connectivity between cloud and local apps, it is literally light years away from iOS.

- I love knowing that any Internet Browser (or any application having an OS native counterpart) I choose to use will be working at the very best of its capacity, allowing for a healthy competition that can only benefit Android as a whole.

There are more reasons, but those are mine!

Again, congrats and I hope you are enjoying your One X!

I was a die hard iphone user since the first one and actually left to get a captivate awhile back and then sold it to go back to iphone....now I am on a One X and love it. I too got bored with ios its the same old stuff over and over nothing really useful...

I made a post of things i did not like about switching over to HOX here if you care to look. some other peoples opinions also.

probably the best thing i like about having the one x is jsut that its new. and its different.

overall, it does not provide any more functionality than iOS. more customization but its somewhat troublesome and confusing to set up also.

and if your into jailbreaking/rooting, i think the iphone offers more. everything in Cydia is built for the iphone.

there are only so many working and fuilly functioning roms for android and the mods are only here and there. nothing too special.

apps arent built as great for android also compared to iOS. but the cool thing is that there are some very different apps in android though since it is capable of more.

The One X is the best android phone hardware wise (build quality, screen etc.) Android has improved drastically since 2.x and Jelly bean will improve the device even more. If you do purchase it you wont regret it.

Looks like there are some "Savy" android folks here. I'm tornDont know which to do- the S3 or the OneX. If it was based on the display alone, there wouldn't be a problem it would be hands down OneX.
I'm hoping some of you can comment, lets throw away all the trinkets, bells and whistles. And UI.
lets hear about the hardware...the radios, wifi radio and signal strength. Signal fall back. One of the reviews said one of the phones will not revert back automatically to a stronger service. Lets say your on LTE and it drops.to 3g edegand then 10 min later it goes back to LTE or HSPA+. The device will not go back to the higher speed automatically. Forgot which one the.OneX or S3. Which has lesser issues? Which Manufacturer gives better support to.customers.and finally upgrades. I have a Atrix2 and the only thing Moto gives is used toilet paper, and even that comes with a heart ache-
I've been broken in....SD Card, removable Batt, but I can live without them. It took 3..min to get into AC the other day.... yep buffering and lag and a sick wifi radio on this piece of crap. I'm looking to make a.solid move. Hope ya can guide me.
Thank you!

Well I am completely satisfied with my HOX. I have only used the S3 in the ATT store and I couldn't really tell you what one is faster. They both are quick. I don't like the S3's feel in my hand. I mean all I can really say is that I haven't noticed any lag or problems with my signal. I hope that helps.

All I can say is that I am very happy with the One X. Everyone's use is different so results will vary but I'm impressed.
