I owned a N9 and didn't feel like it was worth 500$ (32gb) so I returned it and was gonna get the N7 but I saw Samsung is having a deal with the Tab Pro 8.4 for only 200$. The reason I'm looking at it is because of the low price and the SD card slot. I owned a N7 2012 and 2013 but my 13' had touch issues so I'm not sure if I wanna get another N7 because I'm scared it will do the same same thing. My problem with the Samsung is that the updates come slow, touchwiz is crap and I've read people complaining about lag. Do you guys think I should just try out the Nexus 7 again or go with the Samsung and save some $?

I have no issues at all with lag on my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. I think it's the absolute perfect size. It's not too big or too small. I hope Samsung makes a tablet this size every year with new specs, since no one else is doing it.

NO lag on mine and if it wasn't for people talking about touchwiz I would have no clue that some people find it a problem. Whatever it is I am totally loving the tablet coming from a N7 2012 that had lag and freezes. Size is perfect especially with a light case. I have the moko and it makes it easy to hold with one hand.

Not to keen on going out on BF but might to get a second one for my wife She inherited my N7.

Have you had ANY issues with it since purchase and how long have you had it?

I just recently purchased a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 from Best Buy, and its much better than my old Nexus 7 model. Great screen and fast. The only thing I had to deal with was the Samsung skin over KitKat. I installed the Google Launcher, which has made it an easier transition from the Google Nexus 7.

I had a Nexus 7 2013 before (it was my first tablet) and I would never go back to it. I just love my Galaxy TabPro 8.4 and it's bigger screen, but still small enough to be held and carried without problems. I'm rooted (Towelroot) and using Nova Launcher (just like I did on my Nexus 7). I had no issue at all since I bought it last June (and I'm using it a lot every day).

BTW, manufacturer refurbs are currently available on Groupon for $214.

I just pulled the trigger and bought the Tab Pro S 8.4 right now, I didn't want to wait till next weekend for the deals and the crazy lines/people. What should I do first? I wanna root before anything, what is the easiest way to do that? Also, what launcher should I use, GO launcher or Nova? I have a Mac btw

Had mine for about 3 weeks and no issues whatsoever. Certain things I actually like better than my N7, back button on the right side opposite to what Nexus has. Like the notifications pull down provides quick access to settings at the same time. When you go into settings everything is clear on white background and easy to read font and there is a search function that quickly takes you to what you need if you forget where it is. Camera can be controlled by voice instead of touch from lock screen, just say whatever you want to program. ( Maybe N7 will but I never found that feature). Personally I think the hate on for touchwiz is way overblown.

The only issue I've had is that there are two stains on the screen, one red and one blue. I'm about to swap it out with a new one with Samsung. Other than that, it's been perfect.

The 8.4 Pro will be on sale at Best Buy tomorrow for $199. I went to buy one today and the Samsung "expert" told me to wait until tomorrow, 11-23. BB is front loading certain items before Black Friday for 3 days. MXRider, I'd return your Pro tomorrow and save the additional $50

Can I put games onto the SD card and download content to it with out root and also can I hook it to a battery pack and play I saw in another post towel root works for this tablet ? That's so cool that's how I rooted my n7 but Igot to greedy and installed a custom rROM and bricked it but its all good
But yeah can some one tell me and also can I play GTA on max graphics without lag on this tablet ,thanks

If it were between the Nexus 7 and Tab Pro 8.4, you want the Tab Pro. The performance is there.

If you had said "Nexus 9" it'd be a different story. Then I'd say consider the 9 because I would rather have a more stock Android build on a tablet. Having used TouchWiz UI for the better part of a year, I don't really care for it and would just like a more "to-the-point" interface. I also agree with those who claim the TouchWiz UI is laggy (that's probably a bigger complaint I have than the look and feel).

Weird. I had no issue with lag on mine at all.

I have no desire to get the Nexus 9. I love vanilla Android, but I love the aspect ratio of the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 much more.

Same here. No lag on the 8.4 Pro. I'm previewing MS Office for Android on it... wow is this combo a powerhouse!

had the nexus 7 2012 and was researching between nexus 7 2013, nvidia shield, lg gpad 8.3 and samsung pro 8.4. Saw BB dropped to 199 on Sunday and pulled the trigger. So far, I'm not regretting the decision... This thing flies! Size is perfect screen is amazing. Never had a Samsung device because of the bad wrap touchwiz always gets (typically go with HTC sense) so far I don't mind it at all. Only reservation I have is regarding whether or not this gets lollipop but I'm happy I rolled the dice and only paid 199!!

I just ordered one myself. I despise TouchWIZ but I figure CyanogenMOD is the cure for that.
I would suggest rooting it and removing the bloatware before flashing CM on it. There are some nice features of Samsung's Android (split screen, applet windows) that come in handy.

Not possible, my Final Fantasy games won't work on a rooted device.
