Hello,
I know gaming laptops aren't ideal, compared to a regular PC. But I need the portability, which is why I'm willing to spend the extra money.
I currently have an Asus Republic of Gamers laptop from 2011, and looking to upgrade. Anyone here have any suggestions? Looking to keep it in the $1,000-1,500 ballpark.

If you are so much fond of gaming, I would suggest you to check the "Alienware" or the "MSI" branded laptops. In your price range, I think they have just the perfect products. Happy buying and gaming.

Look for a fast i7 with at least 16GB of RAM, preferably expandable, and a good gaming video card. ASUS used to make a couple of really good ones, but evidently they didn't sell, so they stopped. The Alienware 15 R2 or 17 R3 with 16GB would be about the least I'd go for, to allow for at least a few years of use.

I was initially looking at the Alienware... but now I'm thinking about the XPS 15. It has the 6th gen core i7... 960m graphics card, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd. Plus the benefit of it not being a heavy turd
