I've been doing some research on how to root this tablet - Samsung Galaxy Tab E, model T377V, Anroid ver. 7.1.1

The information so far consists of several options, using things like TWRP, Odin, Magisk, etc. There are a ton of "guides" on how to do this, but it's all quite daunting. Because I've always got great help from the people in this forum I thought I would post here and ask you guys what would be the best procedure for rooting this tablet?

The reason I want to do this is because I was given this tablet and so I thought rooting it would free up space and maybe make things a little faster.

Thanks in adavance for any help/suggestions.

Android 7 should be rootable by Magisk. Just download Magisk and the manager, and look for a tutorial on flashing Magisk to a Samsung.

I found one guide that mentions using Samsung USB driver, Odin, Magisk and TWRP. Unfortunately my model number isn't in the list for TWRP. Maybe I'm using the wrong guide? There are different guides using many different things and I'm unclear which one to follow. I'm also unclear which versions of these things to download, since some of them especially Magisk have different versions and I had to navigate many pages just to find the download file.

Well I've tried a couple different guides (one using TWRP and another using CF Auto Root) and both have failed. After using Odin to do the process I get a red FAILED square above.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Try xda forums if they have root option for this device.

I posted about this in the Samsung Galaxy Tab E thread on XDA. No replies yet.

The process so far ... I have Odin version 3.14.1 installed on my PC along with the latest version of the Samsung USB drivers. I can boot my tablet into the download screen, then I connect it to the PC with a USB cable. I open Odin and it shows "added!", then I click the AP button and selected the CF-Auto_root file. Below is the info taken right from Odin....

I assume I'm doing this correctly, especially after reading several guides. I thought I would post the info here in case it helps anyone who is trying to help me. I tried doing this with TWRP, but like I said that failed also (I'm assuming because I can't find a file for my model T377V, even though most of the guides say you can root a Verizon version of the tablet).

Does it say connected com on top in box of Odin?

Yes, that box is a light blue. Stays that way through the process. It says 0:[COM4]

I did. At first I had an older one, then I tried 3.12 and finally this one. They all had the same results.

Look around in the xda site until someone replies, going be tough because not many will be interested in this tablet , probably the Dev don't support the Rom either anymore.

Yeah, I know. I was given the tablet so I thought I'd try rooting it, if it was possible. Either way I can still use it for work, but I would have to get a sim and then pay for a plan to use it on my carriers network.

Thanks for your help.
