Looks like the LG Watch Urbane 2nd edition will get first crack at Android Wear 2.0

My biggest gripe is the voice recognition. At least on the Moto 360 2.0 at times its buggy and I have to repeat my speech in a VERY SLOW ROBOTIC voice tone. VASTLY different experience to how my LGV10 apps process voice... where I just speak naturally.

hopefully its not that bad in the first place on the LG watches... and any AW improvements would be realized across all watches.

more Standalone and less dependency on being connected to our phones

I've been trying to get mine that way since I bought it. I've found a few apps to help with better notifications, messaging with keyboards, etc, that have really made a difference to usability.

No mentioned of NFC support and possible Android Pay on the watch. Come on, Google, Apple have you beat on this for a year now.

This is good news, though I didn't see anything about an dedicated inbox for email and texts? Definitely glad there will be standalone apps on the watch. Tech companies need to unleash these watches from the phones and make them truly be an alternative to carrying a phone.

Yes it is, I think you need to have the bootloader unlock to be able to flash the android wear 2.0 preview.

The ability for developers to make android wear apps use standalone LTE or wifi to it's full capabilities is enough for me. Android Pay would be nice but I use Samsung Pay a lot more so it's not that big of a deal to me.

Fall can't come fast enough. Football, Android 2.0 and the Note 6 or Nexus phone are all in my I can't wait to see list.

They also have the current factory image posted so you can go back if it is not working well for you.
As of now I definitely plan on trying it, but I want to get a couple runs in with the current version first so I can see if there is any difference.

Connected is one of the big things they are pushing in this update with independent apps and streaming support so makes sense for them to support this model for developers.

I just hope they get to where I can change the extra button function.

Also hope 2.0 adds support for NFC for mobile payments and other things. With fitbit purchase of Coin, and Apple probably eyeing it also, Wear needs to setup to support pay with watch. Just don't expect it to work with any current device.

Apple has mobile payment with NFC on Apple watch since day one (it is now a year old). Urbane 2 has the NFC hardware inside according to FCC documentation. It's Google that drags its feet. Android Pay doesn't need special hardware other than NFC.

Hi scaots, do you have the link to the current factory image? I may try flashing the preview, just want to make sure I can go back to the current version.

The Google Preview page contains links to both the preview and current factory image. If you can get your boot loader unlocked, you are good to go.

Thanks, I got it, the way they name the current version is a bit confusing.

The bootloader shows as locked, but I was able to unlock it and installed the Android wear 2.0 preview. It's rebooting right now, hope there are not much issues/problems with this build.

Booted and paired to my phone, I'm getting errors while syncing, it could be because of my existing 3rd party wear apps. I should have uninstalled them first.
